89 V6 4Runner is slow.

I have an 1989 4Runner V6 that is just SLOW!
I am wondering why this is, as compression is good on all cylinders (~140 psi)
Towing a 2200 lb. trailer felt the same as towing nothing, but it's acceleration is slow. My 89 V6 pickup was nowhere near this slow, so it's not just because it's the V6.
Any ideas?

I don't get why people call it the V-slow, since my 89 2wd V6 pickup had awesome acceleration and lots of get-up-and-go power that my 4runner doesn't have.

The 4Runner is a good bit heavier than a pickup. Especially 4WD vs. 2WD too.

my 22R powered 2wd pickup could take all kinds of cars in a race. for the most part i wouldn't even attempt something like that with my 4x4.

Look at the sticker in your door jamb.

Compression

wonderwagon - according to my haynes manual, for the v6 engine, 3vze your compression should be as follows:

###########################
Compression pressure at 300rpm
Standard 171psi
Minimum 142psi
Max difference between cylinders 14psi
###########################

hope this helps.
