89 4runner code 52

Hi,

I am new here. Have a question: I just installed a rebuilt 22R-E in my 89 4Runner. It runs ok at idle but after about 30 seconds of driving I get a check engine light and the engine begins to run a little worse. The flash code is 52. I don't have an owners manual so i can't look it up. Anyone seen this on a first Gen?

Thanks in advance-
Tcollins

Knock sensor, its to the rear of the oil filter. Check the wire connection and hope that its cause to things are EXPENSIVE .

It doesnt necessarly mean the sensor is bad. It can be set off by noisy valves than need adjusting, pistons knock, ect.

Valves are set to spec and engine runs quiet. We'll swap out the sensors and see what happens. I also had a struggle installing the starter so maybe I just knocked the wire off. That would be an easy fix!

Thanks again-

Swapped out the Knock sensor and it did the trick. The one I changed out had a differnt shape to it where I screws in.

Thanks for the help!
