Hi guys, I took off tomorrow hoping that the local Auto Zone would have a 54mm socket for rent or for sale so I can finally get my Brembo/Performance Friction/inner outer wheel bearing job going but I guess I was wrong! Does any one know where I should look locally for a socket this large? Does any one have one I can borrow “Ill pay 2 way shipping"? I would hate to buy one, I know I won’t need it again for years but if I have to I guess I will! Does any one know of any other way to get the hubs off? I mean any other tools that I may have handy; I need to find out before I start pulling things apart! Thanks again, Matt. Oh what size in inches would this equate to, I cant think right now

I bought the 2 1/8 cause I couldn't find a 54mm either, but it seemed to work fine

 

just wondering whats the benefit to manual hubs?

There is also the slight gain in power. I notice it when I have the hubs locked on my '85, there is a noticable power drop due to the frictional losses of the front end components turning.

If you got manual hubs and need it now, just BUY one, you'll need it again.

54 mm = 2.125984252" = 2 1/8"

 

Is that the socket that goes on the bug huge nut on the Toyota streight axle? If so I need to get one too.

The FJ-62 and your 85 have baiscally the same axle except the 62's is longer and the diff is 9".

 

Yep, that is the socket that goes on that bug huge nut! You need to get a spring scale too...

 

Use a screwdriver and a hammer and some common sense. It ain't rocket science.
