4th Gen VSC - Can it be turned off?

There are mixed reviews of the VSC as it related to off-roading. 4X4 TV says that the helping hand of big brother is a real PITA and can not be turned off. Rockcrawler.com said they were able to turn it off in their test rig.

Can the VSC be turned off in both high and low range?

BTW: Here is a photo I found on another site. It is from Lions Back, which is at the end of Hells Revenge in Moab. It is the first photo that offers some of the feel to be at the edge of the hill for the start of the drop. My palms sweat just thinking of the hills my son and I went up and down. My photos are still a week away.

Yes, it can. Push the center differential lock button and VSC is disabled in both 4H and 4L. However, TRAC is always on...no defeat available yet.

Just like what BT17R says, it can be turned off... but since your center is locked, make sure you're not driving it in hard surface as you don't want it to drive center locked on paved roads...

btw the new 4runner does well on the trails
