Does anyone know if it is possible to fit the 18x7.5 6 spoke wheels that come off the 4th gen. 4runner onto a 1999 3rd gen 4runner? I have an imperial jade mica that i think would look amazing on a set of those wheels. Also, do the wheels only come in that smoked/gunmetal color? Because that is the color I want, not a plain silver like i have now.

Anyway, if you know that it does indeed fit, please let me know. And if you have any pictures/links to more info about this, let me know as well!

I have seen those on a 3rd gen 4runner and they look silly. Very narrow stance due to the wrong offset. Probably a +25 or more when we need a 0-10 offset or below. If you get these, please run a 1" spacer... unless for some odd reason you like the wheels to sit WAY into the fender flares.

 

Oh, i wasn't aware the offset was not the same. I would most definately run some sort of spacers to try and get it back to the original offset. There is nothing wrong with running spacers are there?

Get the bolt on adapters! They work fine.

I would think that those rims would look okay, but, I donno. Someone needs to do a photo chop!

 

Don't get me wrong. I think the wheels look nice. I even considered these at one point. The offset is a little more positive, which made the vehicle I saw look silly, (like a wagon). If you don't have fender flares, it might work out. Otherwise, you might consider getting spacers. Keep in mind that spacers can give you problems. If you search, you'll find several threads on that topic.

Another consideration is the weight of the wheels. By going with a heavier wheel with a larger diameter, AND heavier tires, (18 series is not lighter than 16 series tires due to extra filler for a thinner sidewall), the loss in performance will be significant.

get the wheels they're sweet and they fit.
I was going to get them for my 4th gen.
Cheapest I found was 115 a wheel, dont pay any ridiculous prices $600+

 

The look too much like a pathfinder wheel to me. These are 17" but they are close.

 

Those 17's look good as well, but i really like the color on the 18's and I think they will match perfect with my color.

I do indeed have fender flares (limited 4x4). So if this wheel pushes the wheels into the car anymore than my stock wheels, I will definately look into getting spacers.

BTW, any cliffnotes on the negatives of wheel spacers?

i have a set of 17" cadiliac rims for sale that fit with a spacer and look sick on a 4runner i had them on mine

 

Hmm, yea it does look a little silly on the 3rd gen. now that i see it in pictures. It flows real well on the 4th gens, though.

I guess I should look into the 17" 5 split-spoke sequoia/tundra wheels? I have seen pictures of that on a 3rd gen. 4runner and liked it alot too.

Anyone know if the 17's have any offset issues like the 18's did?

 

The first picture looks great.

In the second and third pics, you can see how the offset comes into play. The wheels are FAR into the fender. To the point where you can see a good portion of the fender lining and rear mudguard from the front of the vehicle.
