4Runner 4WD Auto Trans Rebuild???

1996 3.4 4X4 pushing 300,000 miles

Frequent flushs and filter changes along the way.
Runs good, shifts good but I know it time to freshen the trans. I understand there are new seals available that might be better than the seals in a Toyota factory kit. While the transmission is out is there any recommendations on upgrades or parts. What type Transmission cooler and where to locate it. Torque Converter?????

---------Any Idea's or Thoughts???-------------

Best upgrade is either the Raybestos Blue Clutches, or if you want to go OEM, just get an A340 from a Lexus LS400 and convert it to 4WD. Cheap, easy and a decent upgrade. The LS/SC400 A340 has extra clutches/steels in all gears. All you do is swap over the output shaft, valve body and shift rod. Lexus transmissions are typically dealer maintained (good thing), given their older, more affluent customer base from the 90's.

The higher rate accumulator springs in the Lex A340 really firm up the shifts in the 4Runner with the 4Runner valvebody.
