4runner - 1, Deer - 0

Well I hit a deer tonight in my 4runner. It's not too bad cause the brush guard took most of the impact. There is a small dent in the drivers fender. A small dent in the hood. It broke my toyota bug deflector and the head light is a little loose. It also broke the black bottom part of the bumper to the inside of the brush guard. We'll see what the insurance says tomorrow.

As you can see most of the damage is from where the brush guard hit the truck but better than losing the front end.

I feel for you man. I hit a deer less than 24 hours after I bought mine So when replacing the bumper, I decided to go with a TJM bumper instead of stock. I've since hit another deer and only damage was a broken signal lens in the bumper.

The reason for the beefy curved bar that wraps around the headlight on those TJMs and ARBs is to keep that kangaroo or deer from hitting the headlight. You will find that loose headlight of yours needs to be replaced because the deer busted out the plastic adjuster mounts on the headlight assembly. So now the headlight won't aim correctly. And unfortunately, the headlight assembly is just as expensive as a stock bumper...

i hit a good sized doe a few month's back in my 84 pickup going 65. it bent up my stock bumper pretty good, broke my front grille, and my pass. marker light. and turn signal, and bent the pass. fender a tiny bit. here's a picture.

once i straightend out the bumper and got a turn signal lens and marker lens, you couldn't even tell i hit anything. i really miss that truck.

I really wanted to take it home and take her meat but it was midnight and i didn't feel like calling to see if i could.

Well my dad told me to pick it up but really? In the back of my 4runner with no prep prior. I've seen Tommy Boy. I know what happens :-)

Actually by the time I looked at the damage and turned around someone was putting it in their truck. It was still in the road when I had splattered it.

That's why I always carry a good size knife in my truck. Just in case I hit one, I can track and cut its throat, so the Tommy Boy thing don't happen.

I'd be tempted to at least cut out the backstrap.
