3.4 Downey Headers

I`ve searched but didn`t find the answers. To all that have Downey 3.4 headers installed. Is the cross over needed and is it included with headers? I`ve read where some bought from a certain dealer and it was included in price but at dealers site it doesn`t give that info.

_A_ crossover is needed, but some folks have an exhaust shop make up on for them versus buying Downey's own. You also need a Y-pipe (aka "collector").

If you buy the headers straight from Downey, then they will be happy to charge you a lot for them, plus extra for the crossover and Y-pipe. The place that folks keep talking about in the same breath as Downey headers is Truck Performance Center:

http://www.truckperformance.com/prod...UNNER&sf4=3.4L

Their price _includes_ the crossover and Y-pipe. They seem to be the cheapest that anyone has found, and they're nice people to deal with as well.

One thing to mention is that you should plan for shipping delays on Downey's behalf. If TPC doesn't have the parts in stock, then they will drop-ship from Downey. When that happens the "traditional" lead time is 4-5 weeks.

When I bought mine, TPC had the crossover and Y-pipe in stock, and they shipped immediately. The headers were to ship from Downey in a week, and that became closer to 5 weeks.

Good luck!

Mark

Yeah that is the place Mark, thanks! I don`t suppose you know if the crossover will fit a 2000 4Runner as in Downey catalog it doesn`t go that far up in years.

Nah I don't. sorry.. You might wanna give TPC a call, I had better support from them than when I talked to Downey a couple of times.

It depends on whether you have 1 or 2 catalytic converters. That makes the difference in which x-over pipe you need. Take a look underneath your truck before talking to TPC about it. If you have only 1 cat, you need the x-over pipe for the 96-98 trucks and the Non-EGR headers. If you have 2 cats, I don't think Downey makes a x-over pipe for that application and you will have to have one custom made.

Hope this helps.
