I have been experiencing quite a bit of vibration in the front end while picking up speed. A co-worker pointed out that I had some play in my idler arm, so I followed the directions on this post--

Idler Arm Maintenance

It cost a whole $13.00 and took a little over an hour to do. Tonight on my way home from work I had no vibration at all, and the steering felt much tighter.

I highly recommend this for any 2nd gen--especially if you wheel it and have over 100k.

 

were your bushings worn right through? i rebuilt my arm thinking that my idler was faulty, but when I got inside, the bushings were fine.

 

not worn through, but worn. When I moved my pass tire back and forth there was quite a bit of movement--now there is none. Make sure you torque everything down just right.

 

What a difference. It feels like a different truck---now I just want a steering stabilizer!

OME was my plan--wanted to have it bolt right on, not using brackets. Where is the best deal??
