2nd Gen 4runner roof basket

i was browsing around for a roof rack/basket for my '95 4runner and i was looking on thule's site and saw this roof basket:

Thule - 840 - PlayPen Basket

but i was wondering if there is something a little bit more reasonably priced. Anyone else have any suggestions on some good roof racks/baskets? Maybe just some other companies?

is it hard to take on and off? I also have the thule snowboard rack and i am probably going to have to interchange them (or maybe it allows me to attach both somehow? ).

bought a bauer from sports rack (www.sportrack.com). it was one of their local stores.

anyways, waste of time.

i bought it for my first trip to the dusy ershim trail. it was gonna be a 4 day trip so i planned to bring tons of stuff. including the spare tire up there.

what a mistake. raised the CG and scared me the first time.

anyways, in the 5 years i bought it, maybe used it 3 times... lol...

but maybe the next loooong trip, i'll need it again. just pack the light stuff up there...

Here is a few pics of my Yakima Load Warrior with the 18" extension added in the middle.
I have had this rack since it almost first came out, and it still looks great.
Holds a lot, and tons of accessories now out for it to mount stuff.

I fabbed up a few of my own ways to mount stuff such as the shovel and gas can, now they have stuff out to do it.

Same rack on Todd's 1st gen.
May his old rig rest in peace.

With the Load Warrior you can mount your snowboard rack directly to it. You do not have to take the Load Warrior off. If the Load Warrior is put on with Control Towers the whole thing can come off the tracks in about 30 seconds with two people.
Here is what it looks like on a 3rd Gen.

I have the Yakima Load Warrior on my 2nd gen 'Runner. It's nice, but it doesn't get as much use as I thought it might even though I do a lot of long weekend trips with climbing and camping gear. I can't remember what I spent, but it was on sale at REI when I got it. I don't regret shelling out the bucks.
