2dr 2nd gen 4Run
Hey, does anyone know how rare a 2dr 90-92 4Runner is? I just realized they made them, and I've never seen one before. I looked on the web and could only find pictures of two of them. If they are so rare, does that greatly affect thier cost?

I doubt they are any kind of "collector" item and the cost of one really isn't gonna be the same unless you find a Toy freak that has a hard on for one;they definetly are rare but I do remeber seeing a few around Colorado when they were new.

There seemed to be a lot more in Canada, I've seen lots of em. It's a tradeoff - I like the looks of the 2dr and the fact that it's different from the masses of regular 4drs (I like to be different,) but then it *is* harder to use the back seat (the reason they dissapeared eventually I suppose..) They don't seem to command any different prices than a 4dr in the same condition though.

Toyota stop importing them because of the tariff tax put on them. around that time, the 4 dr was even cheaper than 2 dr. Nissan had the same version of the Path finder also. I guess GM and Ford couldn't sell enough of the 2 dr.......hehe.

I thought they ONLY made them in 1990. 91 became 4Dr
8something to 89 were the 1st gen 2DR, Convertable (Love these ones). 1990 was 2DR soild roof. 1991 was 4dr
Thats what I thought But I could be wrong.

They really aren't all that rare. They were sent to the US for a couple years and show up for sale on the web pretty frequently. Although the tariff stopped them in the US, they continued to be produced and shipped to Canada and elsewhere for a couple more years.
I really like the look of them. If I had $ falling out my
I'd love to have one set up with a SAS, leaf spring conversion in the rear and some other toys.
Definitely no added value to them IMO as I have seen a number of them that took a long time to sell even at lower prices. There was one for sale locally last year that I was tempted by, but the 2 doors and a baby thing wasn't working anyway with my '85 so I couldn't justify buying a newer 2 door 4Runner

I used to have the two-door(Canadian eh?). It looked nice, but after going to a 4 door (same year) I'd never go back. 4 door is waaaaay more versitile.
