you mean they would make it look more rugged.

ARE you trying to say that Doink's rig looks cheap? looks pretty bad-A to me!! Well, his is a 2nd gen but it wouldn't look much different on the 3rd gen.

ARB bumper to match what? He's got the TJM bumper, serves the same purpose and would match the wheels too. I am just saying that black wheels don't make the runners look cheap. It sounded as though he likes the black wheels. I am just trying to figure out what your saying becuase I and going to black wheels soon. this is his TJM:

Option #2, Larger tires on a second set of wheels if funding isn't a problem.

As for storage, you can keep them at my house

Well, after verifying that 15 inch rims don't fit on the 3rd gen 4runners, I took the plunge and ordered a set of 285/75/16's BFG MT's on black rockcrawler rims. Will post pics when they get here!

do you have the 13" discs in front? did you runner come stock with the 16" wheels? Just wondering because if so, you need to update us and take pics so I can see how close the black rock crawlers are to the calipers to see if I want to get some 16x8's.

Keisur,

Yes- mine came stock with the 16 inch rims and 13 inch rotors. I tried fitting a pair of 15X8 rims, ~3.5" backspacing, rock crawler clones (I think they were Allied rims) that JRUZ just bought. It wasn't even close. They scraped on the very edge of the rim, and things only get worse as the rim tapers in smaller as you get further into the rim. As you mentioned (I think?), you'd need so much backspacing that no portion of the rim fit over the caliper. The calipers look different on a 4runner vs. a Tacoma, but they don't differ that much in size. Its mostly the larger rotor- the rotor on Jim's Tacoma was probably 2 inches smaller in diameter.

I'll definitely post pics when the new tires/rims come in.

Sweet! Where'd you order from? How about the model/brand/backspacing of the rims?

See here:

http://www.4wheelparts.com/product2....ss=TWD&cat=PAC

4" backspacing rockcrawlers with BGF's. They had free shipping if you ordered this weekend. Total was about 1030.00

I went to a local 4wheelparts, and they tried to tell me that the deal I saw on the internet didn't include mounting and balancing-
Yeah, right, like they're going to ship four rims and four tires seperately? By the time they added on various fees, it came up to about 1200.00. They've had this package listed for a couple of weeks, and the free shipping thing has come up 2-3 times since I've been eyeing this package, so its worth waiting until you see it (probably saved a couple hundred bucks in shipping alone). As for the tires and rims, I ended up paying what I would have paid at a local tire place once mounting and balancing were added in.

Figure about 60 bucks each for the rims, and about 190 each for the BFG's.

So, these puppies should last a long time if I put the street tires on for longer trips. Oh, I'm probably going to get their road hazard package as well, is 10% the price of the tires, but covers you both on and off-road- as long as there is 50% tread left on the tire, if you shred a tire wall on a rock or whatever, they'll replace it.

yep, it even says on the webpage that Nutz, Mounting and balancing are included. I was going to order mine but I got too anxious and drunk on the thought of having those tires and wheels NOW that I went done there locally and got boofoo'd. but I ended up getting an alignment then too, tires, wheels, lifetime balance and rot, nutz and full hazard even wheeling hazard came to 1300.

Those look like Tech1 Streetlock rims like seafairingman has. Yup, think it'll look pretty sharp when I get them on. Will have to get a custom rear bumper to ditch the chrome one eventually.
