265s, 285s, cant decide!
I will not be wheeling my 01 4Runner anytime soon. I have a 92 Jeep on 35s for wheeling. However, as does everyone else, I like the off-road look, whether it will make it there or not (and someday it will, just not in the next year or so).
I have been searching, looking at pics, and it seems that 265/75s versus 285/75s are not a huge difference (basically an inch taller and an inch wider). However, the 285s require a 2" lift and 4.56s would definitely be nice.
Can any of you guys who have run both sizes comment on which setup you like more, in terms of being more rugged than your average 4runner, while keeping it simple. Obviously, just slapping on some 265/75s is easy, and will make it look better, but I dont want to buy them and regret not having spent the cash on some 285s and some 2" spacers. My main concern with the 285s is the gearing, I dont really want to shell out $1k for gears and I hesitate to lose performance if I run the 285s with the 4.10s. Thanks for any suggestions.

Yeah, 4runner4me and bamachem are the two that I had in mind when talking about how similar they look (265 vs 285). Of course, the 285s look better, but both sizes look so much better than the 265/70 street tires. I'll probably see if I can find a used set of 265/75s for now, and go with the 285s in a year or so.
