265/70/16 or 265/75/16???

I am about to get a set of tires for my 01. But which size should I go with and what is the difference? Is the 75 taller, wider, or both? Also will going to a 75 void the warranty? Mostly likely going with the KOs. Thanks for the advice.

265 is the width in milimeters, so that's the same. It's basically the difference between a 31" and a 32" tire.

I can't imagine it would affect your warrantee at all.

calculating the tire size

Here is an easy way to calculate the tire size in inches.

take the width and divide by 25.4. Then multiply by the aspect ratio (e.g. .7 or .75). this is the sidewall height.

next multiply the side wall height by 2. this is the total height of the tire.

finally add the size of the rim (e.g. 16 inch) and voila! the total height of the tire and the rim.

Thanks,

Has anyone had problems with the 75s rubbing? Here I can get the 75s for about a $100 cheaper, but my wife will be driving the 4R alot and I don't want the tires rubbing. We have a limited with the running boards and all the side trim.

Will the 265/75's fit on a stock truck? Is that the largest size a stock truck with 16" can fit?

Yep, the 265/75r16's fit just fine on a stock '97 LTD with all the trimmings. (Not running MT's, but everyone seems to think they're fine.)

I'm pretty sure bumping up to the 285/75's will give you problems in a stock rig, so yeah, that's pretty much the line.
