What mods actually INCREASE mpg, other than going easy on the accel hehe.

Assuming I drive the same as I do now, what will make a difference? As far as I understand the following mods will increase mileage:

Slightly lower gears (I'm getting new tires so I will re-gear to slightly low instead of slightly high)
headers
weber 32/36 carb
2.25" exhaust

Are there any other mods to increase mileage other than driving like grandma?

 

if i'm not mistaken, wouldn't a weber carb lower your milage, since it shoots more fuel?

 

My mileage actually went up when I replaced my stock carb w/ a Weber.

 

What gears do you have/are you looking for?
I'm replacing my rear axle this weekend for an 8" with 4.10's in it (it's a 1ton axle so I keep the same lug pattern).
I'll have my origional axle (with 3.73's in it) available.
If you have a auto tranny, that's the ratio you have, otherwise I think that's about as high (numbers) they come stock in the 7.5" variety.
I also have 2 sets of 7.5" gears, 4.10 and 4.30 if you want to regear to either of those ratios.
What tire size are you going to?
Best thing for fuel efficiency is keeping it tuned up.
next is proper gearing. Keeping the motor in the power band on the highway makes it easier for the motor to move the truck (generally 2300-3000 RPM).
BTW-
I just upgraded my instrument cluster to SR5 guages (with factory tach), very easy mod and you get the benifits of the tach and other guages instead of idiot lights.
