Hey guys my friend recently bought a 1982(I think) toyota truck. We turned it into a flatbed and we want to wheel it but the enginge doesn't run all that great. It idles high and we re-built the carb but we don't know how all of the vacuum lines went. The fuel bowl isn't filling up either. We took it apart and cleaned out the jets and then after 5 minutes of running it happened again. I thought it might be crap in the fuel tank but I'm not sure. I'm new to toyata's. Does anyone have a vacuum diagram for the early 22r? Thanks

 

man, i don't think i'd have the patience to rebuild a stock carb. i would have gone with a weber instead, and stripped out all the vacuum lines

 

www.autozone.com has some vacuum diagrams. Click "Repair Info" on the left side column. The ones I saw looked like they were for 1984 and up, but it might help a little. If you are completely lost, getting a Webber would be a good idea if you wanted to spend the cash.

 

How does the two lines go under the intake on a 82 toy 22r one is a fuel line but i dont know which one is the fuel and which one is emissions can you help. I got a 1995 Toyota space cab 2wd
Just finished doing head gasket on it and new value(valves have been done to specifications )and gaskets etc. Um my problem is I just put everything back together and now she won't completely tip over. Put a new dizzy in it and had to wire the old plug on it but that's not the issue . The issue is that the carburettor isn't filling up with fuel like the float bowl only fills up if you do it yourself with some petroleum.
Now the fuel pump is working and the fuel filter is working it's bring fuel up the lines but it's not going to the carb. Also this broke... Maybe it's this Sensor (I believe)... And I can't find a replacement...

The top bit had a nipple like these two you see on the right that have hoses attached to it ..

 

A 95 with a carb? I won't argue that they don't exist, cause I don't know that, but I've never heard of one. But this can't possibly be a Tacoma, which is what this section of the forum is all about. Are you in a country other than the US? I've also never heard of a "space cab", though I guess I know what you must mean.

Also, since you're new, some basic advice is rather than digging up 7 year-old threads with an issue that's only very loosely related to your problem, start a new thread.

Did you only do head gaskets? Everything worked fine before? More background. Mechanic fuel pump or electric? It worked before? Did you keep the carb covered so no gunk got in it during the job? You've got the fuel lines hooked up correctly? Don't have the return and supply on wrong? I mean it's almost 100% that you made some very simple mistake putting it back together. Happens all the time.

 

How are you filling the float bowl? Via the supply line?

Otherwise, sounds like the float valve is stuck shut in the carb - not uncommon for carbs that have sat unused for a while - they dry out and get stuck with residue to their seat. And then the fuel pressure can't push them open.

I have no idea what I'm looking at in your pic.

 

Yeah I don't the head gasket and the exhaust gasket and intake gaskets and put a new value in it and done it as they are done correctly.
no I'm not in the United states. I'm in Australia. Maybe that's why Yous can't really understand the way I talk.
Now it's a mechanical fuel pump
Carb was covered but not all the time
Car has been apart for awhile .
Fuel lines are done correctly as far as I know .
And for the float its moving I can move it with my finger through the site glass.

As for the picture it's like a pip connected to the intake side of the engine with like a sensor by the looks of things .

I'm not that knowledgeable as Yous would be but I know a thing or two.

Now as for the starting a new thread I'm not sure on how to do it but I'll try now .

I took just then .

 

The thing in the picture is a BVSV (bimetal vacuum switching valve). If I remember correctly, I believe it controls vacuum to the choke breaker, auxiliary accelerator pump, and the EGR. It would not cause a fuel delivery problem, but might cause some starting problems as it would not open the choke properly. If you disconnect the fuel line to the carb and rotate the engine, does fuel squirt out of it? If so, the fuel pump is most likely ok as long as there is decent pressure. I have seen the float needle get stuck from sitting, and have occasionally had success by spraying WD-40 into the fuel supply hose to the carburetor, then lightly tapping on it with a hammer to free it up. There should also be a small filter on top of the needle valve that could possibly be plugged. If you can fill the float bowl through the supply line then the float needle and filter are not plugged. Will it start if you pour fuel into the carburetor?

Edit: Checked my vacuum diagram, and it looks like it controls the AAP and choke opener, not the EGR.
