Does anyone know the correct way to fix or achieve the correct timing for an 01-02 transfer case shift actuator?
Recently replaced the shift actuator after 4wd light started blinking and tracked the culprit down to the shift actuator. However light are still blinking and im pretty sure the timing is off.
Symptoms: 4wd dash lights started blinking and 4wd wont engage.
Crawled under car to check the 2 sensors on actuator. Noticed crack in actuator and small amount of fluid leaking from it. Looked like previous owner tried patching with jb weld.
Purchased used actuator but almost certain during install i messed with the timing. So 4wd lights still blinking and no 4wd.
Update:
Ive found the right position to align the gear on the shift actuator (i think). The lights stop blinking until i hit the 4wd button. Then it starts flashing repeatedly. Any other position the 4wd lights blink immediately after starting the car.
Last night i unplugged all the sensors related to 4wd on the shift actuator (transfer case) and on the 4wd actuator (front diff), unplugged the battery and let it sit overnight.
Same thing this morning, no flashing lights until i hit the 4wd. But this time i hit the button rapidly and repeatedly for 5 consecutive times and then boom, there was a loud knock like the front diff engaged and the lights stopped blinking and stayed solid illuminated. The yellow light was also lit up so i hit the center diff lock switch and and soon as i did the 4wd disengaged and the lights began flashing again.
Any help is appreciated!
