Does the automatic tranny with the 3.4L have a lockup torque converter??

Is the 4th gear (OD) actually a seperate gear or is it just the converter going into lockup?

Is the 3.4L the same as the older 3.0L, except for maybe a longer stroke, or is it a whole new engine design seperate from the 3.4L??

I think they are different. The 3.4L is a DOHC engine, while the 3.0L is a SOHC (if I remember correctly).
