2000 4runner elocker help...

I have a 2000 Limited 4-runner and my rear electric diff lock is not engaging. When it is in 4-low and I depress the diff lock button I can hear the locker make a sound but as I drive it never engages. I red diff light just flashes. I had someone tap the locker itself as I pressed the button but that did nothing. I have used the locker before and it has always work, seems like it just stopped working one day. Any help would be great!!!

well I pulled the elocker off and it looks damn dirty and so I have been cleaning it and I have activated the locker button and the gear still is not turning, as I hold the locker in my hand and have another person press the diff lock button I can feel and hear the motor turn and stop but the gear does not move. should I keep giving it a deep clean or is it toast? thanks

try cleaning it.. do what you can. you could take it apart to inspect. but it will risk it breaking apart.. (like mine did) i'd say look for a new one.

yea dude just noticed in your pic. you have a hole in it. just like mine. do not mess with it anymore. just put it back on until u get a new one. or you will be leaking diff oil everywhere. bad news is a new one is around 800 bucks from toyota. check ebay and maybe junk yards
