Some of you may want to know...

I just did a 2" Roger Brown body lift on my 97 4Runner limited 4x4. It was a piece of cake. Roger supplies the steering extension and front bumper brackets. Undo the steering and transmission linkage before lifting. The steering was tight after inserting the extension. I had to loosen the fastener above it to free it up and then tighten down again.

The only part that had me worried for a minute there was the radiator, but found existing holes to lower it the 2" I needed. The only unfinished part is the positive battery cable just hanging there right now. I got to extend that and fasten it back to the frame.

The transmission linkage is fine. You just loosen it before raising the body and retighten it after making adjustments. The transfer case lever sinks down a little, but not bad. No binding on anything at all.

The only cutting I had to do was on the lower valance. There are these frame extensions that were neatly tucked behind it. Now that it is 2" higher, those extensions used to hit. No big deal. I have to do something about my hitch and spare tire mechanism now. The hitch has an ugly gap between it and the bumper. The spare tire mechanism is now inaccessible due to the hole above the bumper being too high to access the mechanism.

Don't forget to put thread locker on all those bolts. Pay attention, there are different size bolts and blocks. well, on mine anyway. All in all, it took me a total of 4 hours to complete. This was my second body lift and was not bad at all.

I might put the RB 1" lift on my rig one day, but it may end up making my ARB up front look bad, not sure.

 

Good stuff. Roger does really good quality stuff and a lot cheaper than the others. I did a 1" recently but now kinda wish i'd done a 2". Still loks good though!

Are you running 32's on your runner? I was thinkin about getting a body lift... but I didnt know how much i should get.

Also, what kind of things did you have to do with your 2".... for example, did you have to change anything with your steering etc??

 

I would love to see some pictures, too! I took my side steps off, but I'm afraid that if I did a 1" or 2" body lift, I would see too much of my frame, which I don't like. I would like to put sliders on instead of the original steps, which would just cover the gap some. The slders are funtional, but I don't think they would cover much of the gap, but maybe they would.
