I have a related question.

I'm running the URD fuel upgrade kit with IPT VB upgrade and a trans cooler. What size pulley can I safely/effectively run with this setup? I'm not a drag racer but I like dropping the hammer now and then....

2.2" pulley is a safe bet if you don''t have an EGT gauge, maybe a 2.1 with an EGT gauge. Any higher will require water/methanol injection.

Most people estimate about 320 at sea level with a proper tune.

Is that with the 2.2 pulley?

When I was talking to Brian @ URD he said 2.2 was the smallest you want to go without WI, with WI 2.1 was ok, and 2.0 would spin the SC past the rated max rpm.

Yup, 320 crank hp with the 2.2" pulley.

I mentioned the possibility of running a 2.1" pulley as long as you have an EGT gauge, but you would need to keep a close eye on that gauge and back off on the throttle if you get close to catastrophe. It's obviously a better option to get WMI with the 2.1" pulley.

As for the 2.0" pulley, I wouldn't be interested in trying it. It pushes something like 15psi of boost I think and when boost gets that high I would be on the border of wanting to get an intercooler, meaning either turbo or centrifugal supercharger would have to replace the roots one.

Lemme guess! 1550* is where I was running when things burned... I would think that 1600* would be pretty sudden bad news.

Based on Gadget's testing, I think 1450* ought to be the high end.

I've always thought that 1450* was max power...

EGT Gauge
In my dyno testing max power was between 1400-1450 F. Over 1450 the power would drop off indicating a loss of power from to lean of a mixture.

Nothing like first-hand experience to use as a guide.

I think you're right, but only near redline IIRC.
