Huzzah!

I promise I will follow Mark's advice and do it next on the list.

Take it easy on that tranny, if i were you, the VB would be the first thing done (before the S/C).. cause the VB is what, 700, a new tranny will cost you a couple grand.

He's been "warned" in another thread, the "Mark" he refers to is me.

In the other thread, I laid out for him how I'm on my 2nd tranny already, which is already slipping, and I FINALLY got the VB work done. I got it back from IPT last week.

heh... Maybe. But I've known it to be an issue for years. I preach hard on here about it in EVERY SC thread I come across. I've also openly stated for the eons I've been here that I don't practice what I preach, and "dood, LISTEN TO ME!" - I'm a poster child for what can happen when you don't do what "we" say.

Have you seen my rebuild thread, with the cool pic of the burned valve?

Yeah, it's not really hard, just (like you say) a PITA to do it by yourself in the driveway. Kudos for finding a way to get it done versus skipping it!

Mark has warned me...
btw... Please don't take offense to me speaking to Greg like you weren't in the room. I know your place, I've been there too, and I'm the type of "harper" that will back off once my warnings have been acknowledged. Everyone has to make their own decisions, all that anyone on the "outside" can do is give advice.

Finger's crossed man!

And what do you mean by babysit the truck? Do you another car for DD? If you do, i'd say do it yourself, work slowly, you can get it done.

Haha, I wouldn't want my 4runner to impose on my wife any more than it already has... But I will keep it in mind

You can pay now for the VB upgrade or pay a lot more later for a new tranny or take off that SC until you can pay. I remember Gadget saying it only takes one full throttle shift to blow through 2nd gear and that was with a stock pulley.

Yeah maybe the other 1 out of 10 fail from blowing through clutch packs by applying excessive torque with slow cushy shifting of the stock VB. At least keep a close eye on the boost gauge and try not to go into boost as much as possible or maybe look into sticking the by-pass valve open so you don't make any boost.

Yeah... the Hayden you're running will be fine. I'm running one with the Level 10 torque converter and the tranny's cool.
