1999 Front Bumpers...Aftermarket suggestions

Hey everybody --

New member here. I personally own a 1996 tacoma but my mom owns a Red 1999 4runner. My mom works for herself and recently rear-ended someone, but can't afford the insurance deductable to have it fixed through insurance so i told her i might be able to find her an aftermarket (semi-decent) front bumper for less than a new stock bumper + valance.

Other parts of the 4runner were a little mesed including the passenger side corner light, so I told her we'd find a set of new CLEAR aftermarket corners to replace them with which i've found for 20 bucks+shipping on ebay. Aside from a little bend in the passenger fender, I believe the only thing she needs is a new bumper.

She never offroads (obviously), but it's a RED 1999 4runner that needs a new front bumper. I know we have some sweet 4runners in this forum so i was hoping you might be able to link me up to some either stock used and/or cheap front chrome bumpers+valance or something aftermarket that's not too flashy and looks semi-stock...

bring the links! thanks everyone!

Ok, here is the problem...
When most people that want a new bumper (and didn't mess their old one up) they want to look different. I know she doesn't off road, but bull bars are the only full bumpers you can get unless you go custom which are $$. Right now there is a group buy on TJMs. The most stock looking unit there is is the T-17. My suggestion to you is to go to a junk yard and find a 4Runner that was in a side or rear collision and gank the bumper off that. If you have extra money left over you could get it painted to match the truck or something like that by the body shop, but that is going to be your best bet. I believe. We will see what everyone else digs up.

great thanks for the information. I am not sure how close the front end on a tacoma and 4runner are but would a 1999 tacoma bumper fit on a 4runner...something tells me finding a wrecked tacoma will be easier Of course, I would rather fit a 1996 tacoma bumper on her 1999 4runner cuz i can't stand the way that the 1999+ bumpers stick out!!!

look in the private sales section, lots of guys are selling their bumpers plus valence on the 99+ and retrofitting the 96 -98 bumpers. you could probably get one from one of the guys here for a good price.

I am looking for a 1999...the 1998 and older are different style bumpers...but I think they would fit. Why don't you tell me what u are looking for it? and find out if it will fit a 1999?! I might be willing to give it a try

Like i said, I can't stand those freaking bumpers that stick out 2 feet past the grill

They 96-98 style bumper will fit on to the 99+ 4Runners and vice versa. Zubaltec on the forum changed his bumper to the older style bumper. He is also selling his 99+ bumper in the for sale section.

Dang Vato, you should make your pics a little smaller.

You mean the frame looking thing that came on the 2000+ ones? or the limiteds or something? here's a pic of mine:

I still have my old bumper from my 99 4runner. It also have the factory foglights. PM me for any offer if you want it. It's just sitting in my garage. It's chrome and came from a 99 SR5 with the black flares. Shipping might be expensive though. Let me know.

George

I think i found a place to get an "aftermarket" oem bumper for $175 brand new in the box with the valance...

If you can come close to that...like around 200, then we're totally interested. As always, toyota stock parts are worth more in the long run. get back to me soon before i go pick up the other bumper tomorrow.

haha Yeah, it's friendlier here than at tacoma territory. I will always have the secondary parts as a backup plan, however, if the Toyota parts I can get for nearly the same price and they say "Toyota" (haha) then I'd say it'll be better on resell value in the long run. Plus, her runner is on lease so replacing with stock parts is probably better...but i will call you if i decide to run down there and pick up that bumper. I haven't heard anything from george yet so we'll see wish me luck!
