1999-2002 front bumpers on 1996-98 4runners???

Does any one know or has anyone tried to replace there older style 1996-1998 4runner front bumper with the newer style 99-02 front bumper with the round fog lights?

Is this a direct replacement or, must you modify some things please help

I'm pretty sure it takes some modifications. I think there are some plates on the end of the frame that are necessary, but I may be wrong.

I was wondering the same thing. Called up the dealer to ask and *OF COURSE* they just said no way no how. If anyone has done it, I think there would be a lot of interested people.

I would be interested.
I want to replace my whole front end (Bumper, grill, headlights)with an 99-02.
They look so much better.

It can be done, but it is definetly not a direct replacement.

i know that there are some guys on www.customtacos.com that have done that same swap on their tacomas. they have a write up on their site. so im 100% positive that it is possible to do it on your runner.

If you do it, it's going to cost you at least $1,000.

You could always add the PP front spoiler.

gotta admit i love the look of that front spoiler from PP. I'm having probs finding a spoiler for the '02 seems like that piece is only for the 2nd Gen.

It takes some welding to fit a 99+ bumper to a pre-99 4Runner.
