also, the limited's have multi-mode and the speedo is tied into the ABS system, so unless you have an ABS front axle, you're SOL. plus, since Lance has a 2001, he has ATRAC and all that other electronic gizmo stuff.
i'm definitely tuning in for that one. too bad i don't have another week of vacation to burn. if i did, steve would have an apprentice to help with that one...

When I do a swap there are no CEL's, nothing that did not work as it did before and even the 4WD light works.
You will loose ABS, this is just the way it is.
Anyway, today I got the drivers side plated inside and out, I drilled and welded in the drivers side shock tower sleeves. First thing in the morning I drill and weld in the steering box sleeves.
Once that is done I start on the passenger side and pale that inside and out with 25+ plug welds in addition to welding the edges.
I am certain that is will be my last 3rd Gen SAS as the project is seriously taking a toll on me. It is a huge amount of work.

That's it for today.
Both frame rails are plated with 3/16", inside and outside. Ford shock towers are installed with 2 through the frame sleeves and 2 Grade 8 1/2" bolts @ 100 ft/lb. as well as welded the typical way.
By putting the sleeves in the frame and using the bolts as the main point of attachment you use them the same way Ford did. Although Ford used 1/2" smash rivets, much like Toyota used on the FJ's.
Next up is mount the steering box, which today I discovered is an FJ-60 not a 62. Does not really matter, they work the same, you just need to know what you have, if you ever need service, I informed the customer that he has an FJ-60 box. Only real difference it the 62 box has the bolts offset and the 60 box has them in a perfect rectangle, that's it.
The 80 box has them offset and is considerably larger; the IFS box only has 3 bolt holes, only 2 through the frame itself. FJ boxes have 4 through the frame.
After the steering box which should take ½ a day, I swap the oil pan for the 2WD T100 pan.
Then my friends, we are finally ready to install an axle.
Oh yeah, no SAS work tomorrow, I going to take a break. Work and webcam will be back on Monday. I have till the 31st booked so I’m doing fine for staying on track.

Today, Monday is mount the steering box, swap the oil pan and weld on the steering stabalizer stud and brake line brackets.
No webcam today as it looks like rain. Tomorrow the leafs and axle goes on and that's the part I'm sure you all want to see.

Ok yesterday I drilled the eight 3/4" holes, thrill a minute. Put the fame sleeves in and welded them in place, so the steering box mount is done, I added the brake line tabs, bump stop pads on the frame and steering stabalizer mount.
I also swaped out the oil pan for the 2WD T100 3.4 pan.
So now I have what you all wish you could buy. A 3rd Gen SA frame with all mounting brackets. Don't even go there saying I should make such a thing. Yeah it would be great and make for easy SAS's but I'm not interested.
Today the leaf springs, axle and steering box all bolt right up. Everything will be done but the steering shaft to the wheel, brake system and pluming the PS system.
I'll run the web cam today, since there is actually stuff to see.

After this I will have exact numbers for everything, and I really don't see too many customers being able to step up to the finical end of this.
Which is a good thing, I really don't want everyone to have a truck like mine, I prefer it to be the only one or a very few others, It's neat having something different.

Axle is on and the truck is back on all 4 tires.
All that's left is steering shaft from the box to the column, plumb the PS, install shocks, remove the ABS brake system and install the standard 2WD base brake system.
I'm taking today off as yesterday was a rough one. Back at it on Thursday.
