Just test drove my fresh '04 taco with a well installed deckplate with the oem filter, and f..., the engine reallly responded. It seems that the intake is a bit different...seems a bit more streamlined than the older systems. Its got a little "J" trap half way up to help trap stuff that's heavier than air.....another vac box off to the side, but no inline intake silencer. Can anyone suggest that further mods to the intake on the '04 will produce any better punch? I can't believe the improved power curve just from opening up the airbox. I almost feel like taking it out on the road again, just to hear it. Got to keep it under 3.5k rpm (maybe?) at least till the odo hits 1k. When did they get rid of the air flow meter? Good riddence, in any case
