Brandon, i don't care how many times my name and 'arse' are used in a sentence, just do me a favor and keep it more then a few words away from 'penetrating'. Thread is derailing in...4...3...2...

Well after this weekend's EC4RJ got some issues that I need to take care of. Mainly the lack of material on the rear brake shoes. lol. Very little ebrake and a pedal that feels almost like the Master Cyl is bad. Adjusting the rear brakes didn't help much if at all.

My ES leaf spring bushings seem to have started to squeak like everyone else's, but didn't hear anything on the pavement. It might be my bed that is a little off and looks to be rubbing on the cab.

ANd the bump stop extensions held up look like, however got an issue I noticed at least on the passenger side. Did not check driver side.

Notice how the rubber stop ends up like this \ while the extension stays like this |. Almost appears like it's not actually hitting the stop.

Same shot as above full stuff. Barely clearing the bed.

The extended shackles combined with those dodge 2500 shocks made a huge difference I think on droop.

Full droop no doubting that. Same shot as the above photos.

Made myelf hilift mount for now out of what used to be two out of the 4 feet from a metal bed frame and some stainless hardware. I didn't get a photo of the tree but I did smack that handle off a tree which tweaked the mount and cracked one of the pieces of wood, but it still stayed on. I'll have to figure out a better spot to mount it. Also for safety painted the foot and the handle safety orange like on the bumper.

Yup held together just fine. I won't hold the rear brakes against it, because they were kinda acting funny before I left but after the frame was repaired. LSPV ???? I don't know.

As far as the frame shot, I got to get the mud off the truck first and I am still waiting for the photos that the guy was supposed to send me. But for as much weight I had in that thing going down and as much bouncin around it did with my tool box etc weight in the back I'd say the welds and such are good. I do however have to slightly move the bed back because I think it's rubbing against the cab.

Still moving my mom so still kinda busy.

Organized? lol I am far from it. I have every tool I probably need for almost anything, but if I needed it in an emergency, I probably wouldn't know where to find it. The only thing I know for sure where it is now is the hi-lift and my fire extinguisher. hahaha.

Looks pretty organized from that one photo of the bed.
BTW my 82 is running killer. Your help with my Weber was huge and I can't thank you enough for that!!!

No problem man, glad that weber is working out well. I don't understand why people dis that carb. But like I have said sometime in the past, it's usually the ones who just slap the thing on and go. Only problem I have with mine is the cutting off when bouncing around. It runs good on off-camber and incline/declines. This time out since my fuel pressure gauge wasn't working I didn't drop my fuel pressure from 3.5 psi to 1psi like I usually do when wheeling. It probably wouldn't have cut out as much.

He's right, Brandon, ....you're organized ENOUGH, and you ALWAYS make the best out of what you got, with what you got, HOWEVER YOU GOTTA DO IT! lol.

Truck IS looking sick, and I'm really happy for you that it didn't become a "Wow, this is what happens when the frame work isn't up to par" type adventure, ...that's GREAT NEWS! (so far, I know )

Best wishes on the minor repairs from the trip, .... the door, broken wood,.... really glad it was all minor! Also grateful you didn't have an 'INCIDENT' due to the brake stuff's! fhewwwwwww

lol.... L8r Brandon, ...always love it when your thread is active!

in the trail report thread and in one of the videos you can hear me say I think I am gonna have a problem doing this. lol. I was talking about the brake deal. I took the longest going down that hill. The Girl in front of me driving the 06 4runner did really well, but she also cheated some as I can only assume she activated the DAC (Downhill Assist Control) in it as well. lol.

i hate to sound like a douche... but i have to ask, why did you pay $500 to have a frame plated, instead of just finding a good frame?

1 major drawback, nowhere to swap it out. Second reason, needed to get it fixed before EC4RJ. Less then two weeks from the time I noticed the bad bump stops. I already knew it was gonna need attention a while back but at that time it was nothing that worried me.

And with the way I am most of the time, every single body and suspension bushing would have been changed out if I were gonna go that far. Not to mention probably needing to replace each and every bolt associated with it. So all in all it would have pretty much cost me the same amount if not more. There was a guy around here selling a rolling chassis for like $300 I could have gotten but add in the cost of new body bushings, time involved in swapping my springs, engine, trans, new torsion bar adjusters, new idler arm, new pitman arm, new brakes up front etc etc it was the most logical thing to do.

I understand the space thing completely, i'm doing the work on my mud toy/crawler project in an old garden that we haven't used for years, and the driveway, when i can get something to it.

That EC4RJ looked like a blast! amazed nobody got more damage than they did.

Fixed my tire. Didn't cost a penny. Just some sweat ad about a half hour. Most of which was just moving my compressor and tools to the back yard so I can use my hi-lift to break my bead.

I popped the bead and this is what greeted me.

Upon further inspection, this stuff was on the inside of the bead glued to the wheel. Yup that's RC red clay.

A little scraping and vacuuming netted this and a fixed air leak. Luckily it didn't seem as though it was the entire bead just a small section of it.

And for those wondering why my tires might not have looked aired down in some of the photos/videos this weekend, I was running 16 psi in the tires. One mentioned if they are 3 or 4 ply I'd probably get away with running at 10. I looked on the sidewall they are load range C and 2 ply sidewall 4 ply tread.

what? you went Rausch without telling me? was there a thread or a phone call or something?

i was actually thinking that you did NOT air down from the looks of the pics....but now i see your explanation and see why it looked that way.

I remember SCUBA having the same issue with build-up in between the rim and the tire.

Lumpy pm'd me asking if I had aired down because the sidewalls looked a little stiff. But I was at 16 psi. with 3 or 4 ply in what I am assuming is the sidewall not the tread I should be able to air down to 10 ish. But they are 2 ply sidewalls. First time out with these tires though and I know the guy I had bought the from said he had run them at 15 psi without issue and 10 psi once and blew a bead off on the same size wheel I am running which is a 15 x 8. So I didn't go that far. Maybe next time out I'll try 13psi and see if it makes a difference. But the tires did awesome. This is the first time I had an issue with any tire airing down and getting pebbles in the bead causing a leak. But I had a feeling that's what it was. Too bad there is no way around that without going beadlock. Not that I know of anyway.
