TmbrWlf's 86 Ninja Runner

First post for me, the forum helped me through a ton of repairs on my 88 runner a few years back. Sadly had to get rid of it and finally after searching for over a year and half bought a "new" 86 4runner. She's an auto new shocks, rocksliders, and a real clean interior. A/c even works!

She's mostly good to go, just a few things to add as money allows, gonna be slow build. She's mostly gonna be used for canoe/camping trips and some road trips out west. So gonna build sleeping platform in back with storage for gear and tools, maybe a softop, some bumpers, and (if I can find one, bc my welding skills are non-existent) an external roof rack to wrap around the camper. Also, she's getting pretty horrible mpg (looking for advice), although the power is killer compared to my old 88'. So need to look into that, go down to 31's and maybe start rebuilding stock 22re to drop in later, haven't decided. I'm a greenhorn when it comes to these besides the easy things so be a good chance to learn and expand my skill

Thats awesome because 1gens are just like turtles from my experience. Slow, but determined, long life span, shell comes off but looks naked without it, most likely to get killed crossing a road and they are not very happy when they are upside down.

That's a really nice 4Runner. Someone did a good quality paint job on it.

She's a turtle for sure! Yeah terry I think he mentioned your username ha. But couldn't be happier with it for right now. Granted I haven't had a chance to try it in 4wd yet so most the fun is still to come! Hopefully she keeps running well, been great besides the like 12mpg it's getting ha. Granted that's going 80mph down hwy mostly..never thought I'd say that about 22re 1st gen

He did have two parts runners. That blue one is one I would of liked to have before the previous owner to him got it. It was nice. It is still fixable and I think he was fair with the prices on them a while back. Your truck has a lot of work done on the motor with some top name parts. They will do 80, I got a ticket to prove it, lol,

Yeah had some he didn't show me but told me about. When finances allow gonna try to pick some parts up from him. Seemed like good guy. And yeah lot of work done, could be bad could be good. To my untrained eye all looked done right, so hoping that was the case and she'll run a long time for me. Only time will tell I suppose

Thats an awesome green color! Careful with those "rock sliders" they look more like tube steps, which arent as strong as real rock sliders and wont protect the truck as well.

Yeah they are. I was referring to ones underneath. Some real rock sliders on the sides soon to come if all goes well
