Hello Jason.. I guess we posted at the same time. I was thinking they were stock. They come off of something else?? I may actually want to replace one as it takes more weight on one rim then I would like. They are great rims. Just one of my little hang ups.

I hear ya, good idea!

I see them all the time at Pick-Your-Part.... guys don't seem to grab them too often... but they go for 35$? Look on CL,......people IMHO are HIGH for asking what they do for them... But then again, they're aluminum and factory SR5... so they're not free for a reason, lol. Still, many guys dump em for a flashy set.... I love em(I love alot of the aftermarket ones I'm seeing too... Nothing personal, just love the stock ones! lol)

Terry nice job on those truck rebuilds. Have you ever ran across a 1988 3.0 that is leaking oil into radiator. I here that early 88's had a problem with a crack in the oil journal inside the block. If that is the case is there a diy fix....Thanks Travis

Hey man u might have a messed up head or head gasket. I just had mine rebuilt for a similar problem. Although my truck didn't have oil in the radiator, it did have water and AntiFreeze in the oil so im sure it could have led to the same problem you have. By any chance is your truck also blowing smoke out of the muffler; Like white or gray?

Hello tcong420.That I havent, but if you can post a pic on my thread, I am lucky to have several that view and might could give some assistance. The more eyes looking at it the more the ideas.

As far as the oil journal. Could be a problem like Redth005 mentioned. Would it be under some pressure? If it came down to having to replace the block, I would take a chance and try to seal it with some sort of metal filler. Try and post pic of it here and we will see what can be suggested.

Thanks Redeth005..The 3.0 is one of my weak points. I had a 3.0 with a 5 speed and it was one tough little truck. Never a problem with it so I didnt get much experince on it. Unfortuantely it was about rusted in two pieces. Interior was like new. I had to sell it as it was just beyond my ability to fix and that is saying smething as the projects I seem to get.

Hello Bill...lol..I am thinkingof 33s on one of my trucks. She actually wanted hers to come down in height. She would like it a little lower still but is happy where it is at. I like the 31s on it myself. Will have to say I like the whine the tires make going down the highway.

Oh yea I hear ya Terry I love the 22r/22re motors this is my first time having a 3.0 and I'm still learning on a few things myself. My 89 4runner is running the 3.0 with a 5 speed setup. I actually had tons of stuff wrong with it. I'll eventually post everything they told me was wrong with the motor in the build thread soon. I'm getting it rebuilt due to the tons of problems it had. But I bought the truck cheap with the intention of fixing it and knowing it was gonna need a hell of a lot of work done to it. But I love these trucks so in the end it will all be worth it cuz I know I'm gonna have a beast on my hands when its all done.
I'm actually getting my truck back by the end of this week. My truck has came a long way from where it was

I had psoted on your thread. Hope you get your truck back soon. Im not much help on the 3.0 but as far as other issues that come along just ask. I have been thru these trucks alot and feel I could get you over any hurdles yoyu may run into.

What are some of the issues you maybe having now?

Yea man I meant that part of the post toward the other guy lol. But when I re read it after it had been posted I seen it sounded like I was directing it toward you so i edited the post. I don't think u had a chance to read it. Lol

At the moment I don't know of any other problems. Since I dont have the truck yet but ill definitely come around when I do get problems

Terry thanks for the reply....I think I have most likely found my problem. Sounds like the 3.0 from 1988 had a weak spot in the oil galley that was suspect to crack. Anyway with 280,000 miles on it I think she deserves a new motor. Of course curiosity will have me breaking down the old motor too find out for sure what the issue was. I'll post pics as I go along....Thx again Travis

Your welcome. Sounds like you are going to replace the entire engine. If in a hurry and want to get it up and running sooner. I have bought entire engines from United Engines. They dont require a core. Have shipped to local parts store is the cheapest form of shipping. Nothing but great to say about them from my experience.

Sometimes it can be as cheap buying a rebuilt motor or for the amount of time it take rebuilding one. Buying a used motor can be a gamble. I am planning on rebuilding another 22re this winter when it is too cold to do bodywork just to have a spare.

Terry thanks for the link....When I went to there site you either had to have a rebuildable core or it was another 550 bucks....Is there a way around this charge I'm not seeing? Thanks Travis

Hello Outsne. I would suggest getting the "Duckbill" snap ring pliers kind like the video suggest. I used regular ones and it was still a pain. Driveline is one of my weak areas but I am determined to learn it. Just been putting it off. Thought the video might help someone out there.

I do alot of driving at nite on some back roads and visibility is poor in some places. At the last moment I dodged a piece of metal in the road and ruined a tire. Searching Craigslist I found some 3rd gen Tri spokes with alot of tread for $100. I wish they were 31 inch tires but they will do for now as I want to keep the funds available for my other projects. I have always liked the tri spokes on a first gen so it all worked out. It will get 31s again someday.

Also the 84 truck donated its bull bar to the wife truck. She has been wanting one for awhile and before I sent the 84 to my brothers, it just happened to get left here at the house.

Wow, great video too... I'ma need it again for a refresh. THANKS! (I got those locking hubs, power mirrors and AFM for 100$... IOW, "I pulled a Swimmerboy!" hehe... pretty stoked on that... But gotta clean em up and get them on, eventually. My Warns have not given me a problem in 10 years... But ya never know, right?
