Just renewed my tags for the 3rd time since getting this truck going. I off set the sticker to see how many times I renew one. This is a two year sticker that Missouri started doing. Doesnt seem possible that I have had it on the road this long. It was close on passing the brake inspection but I have new pads to install on it soon. Just got to get some time to get them on. Nothing like waiting til the last day to get it done. Just dont like dealing with the DMV.

I don't know the addressess but the main ones I went to are u-pick-it and pick-n-pull. There's a pick n pull on Truman and 435 in kcmo. Then if you go to the next exit on 435N to winner rd there's a nice indoor u pick it. And there's also one on 12st in kck. Those are my main ones but there's a lot of other small yards too

I haven't been getting anything done lately with several things going on. I had to have my truck inspected and the guy that does my inspections knows I will get things fixed so he let me pass on my brake pads. Got them done today. They were thin. I don't ride my brakes, it is just this truck does get its wheels ran off.
We had a cold day and one thing I already regret not getting done was adding the rear heater in between the front seats. The heat will burn your foot and is working great, but by the time it makes to the rear seats it is cool. Mistys runner is so much better in cold weather as you can just use the rear heater when you get the truck warmed. Maybe I will get to it next year.

It's nice to have understanding techs when it comes to inspections. Growing up in Pa, I always had to deal with getting that done. I had a buddy who owned his own shop and would give me a break like yours does.
The rear heater is something that I have been on the fence about fixing on mine. It worked and worked great until it developed a leak and I just bypasses it. I really should look into getting new lines for it.
Last I looked they were about 100$

BACK on the thread topic of the relay switch.... Terry absolutely fixed the problem!!
took 5 mins and already had all the butt connectors and wire for the job!! Great, simple, and easy fix!! even with a weak batter the relay push enough powers to where I can hear the start bushing try to engage *thumbs up*
Thank you terry.....recommend all this for the quick fix without going to part store to put junky ford parts on a Japanese built TANK of a machine!!

Hello Mark... The rear heater makes a big difference. I think I have one and I am still on the fence about getting it installed. My long term goal is to have my 85 as the daily driver and my runner more of a show toy. I was talking to Jason in tn and he has installed a 1st gen Tacoma center console that has my interest. It is a more useable armrest and cup holders. It is nice having a inspector to over look a few things, he knows I will eventually get things fixed.
Hello Chris... I think I did get the most out of them pads. lol Wasn't much left.
Hello 775Toy... If it wasn't for a caliper leaking, it would of been when I heard metal to metal. Got me worried what the rear brakes look like.
Hello pv2smurf... Glad to see I get the your first post and glad that fixed the problem on your truck. There are a lot of fixes that can be done for cheap or free on these trucks. I try to post the fixes I have found on the first page of each build. I will be going thru my threads in the near future and try and update some more that I have found where it is easier to find. Most can be done at no cost and just a little bit of time that makes these more dependable. Welcome to Yotatech.

I have been working overtime and with the cold I haven't been out in the shop. I fired the heaters up and it was warm but the tools were still cold. So I just came back in the other day. Hoping things are better today and want to try to get a few things done. Will wait and see how that goes. If it is still to cold, I will just try to update some fixes on my threads.
The other day I was going to work and I heard an exhaust leak. By the time I got home it was leaking real good. I have run into this problem before. The nuts the connect the pipe to the manifold had backed off. I used new nuts from Toyota when I did the exhaust and that was 2 or 3 years ago when I did that. I talked to a friend of mine and he suggested to trying some nut that are crimped at the top. I am going to give it a try.
I got them from Shamrock nut and bolt store. I think it is just a local store and they have thousands of different nuts and bolts. The nut my friend uses has little "biters" in them, but they didn't have those. The guy suggested I try these. I know from working on some of his trucks in the past, they are a royal pain to remove. I am hoping to have the same results with these.
Looking at the left and right of the nut, you can see they are crimped a little bit.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Seems like this year is flying by. I got the nuts on and so far no more leaks. I have a friend that has dealt with this issue as well and showed me this fix. I will say installing the nuts, while bundled up under the truck, is just something I don't care for. I was wearing thick coveralls and didn't want to wait for the shop to heat up. Trying to get your arms around in tight places is a with thick clothing on sure takes the fun out of it. I did notice a small oil leak while fixing the exhaust but it is going to wait until I get the 85 running as I want to pull the 86 back in and do some more work on it at a later time. Mostly front end work, fix a leak or two and some upgrades in the interiror.
I was going to use another wood stove but it is bigger then I want to use as it takes up to much floor space. I took kornhuskers advice and got the barrel kit from Orshielins and it is an easy build to do. I have about an hour into it. The kit cost $40 and I still need to get the stove pipe. I will get it later this week as I still need to get the wall ready where I want to put it.
Kit

Here the stove is ready. I bought a rusted barrels so as not to have to deal with the paint burning off. You can use this kit for a 30 gallon drum as well and there is a kit to put another barrel on top to trap more heat. Last winter I put on some weight as it was to cold to work in the shop and was about to get cabin fever. I should be ready for this winter here shortly.
I should be coming back off of overtime and am hoping to get things moving along again here soon. Got plenty to do. Here is the stove completed.

Great. I was going to tell you not to use a plastic barrel but you figured it out on your own.
I miss the wood stoves I've had in other houses. It's cozy heat. My garage is attached or I'd get one.

LOL Nervo19... I was able to figure that one out. A plastic barrel was 10 times easier to find. You see barrels all the time until you need one. I am hoping to have the stove up and running tomorrow. Wood heat is so much warmer.
Hello Mark...I got it at Orshlens farm and home. It is 30 or 40 dollars for the kit. They have a $20 kit that you can put on top of the bottom barrel for more heat. Also they have a kit that you can install for cooking on. We have lost power for a week at a time and I plan on getting it at a later time since we have mostly electric in the house.
I was looking on craigslist and there are people buying the kit and then selling the whole stove for $150. It is a real easy kit to install. Really cool little idea that some one came up with.

Hello dart man440... I played around with it while outside to make sure everything was alright and it seemed to go ok. By your screen name I am guessing you are into the 44o Mopars? Those are some power houses and really like those motors. They will get up and run and one of my favorite domestics motors. Welcome to Yotatech.

I was taking care of some other thing around the house and made some progress on some and not so much on other things. Sure is nice when things go as planned but it doesn't always work out that way. While I was working on those things, I lit a small fire in the barrel just to burn out any residue from what ever was in the barrel. Glad I did. I set it outside and apparently there was some contamination on the outside as well.
I would suggest that if you get a painted barrel to let it burn off any thing on the outside before using it inside of a shop. After a while it burnt it off and no more outside smoke. I could feel the heat quiet a ways from the barrel
These are popping up all over craigslist for sale>>> http://springfield.craigslist.org/for/4786039626.html I have seen them in other towns in my area as well.
Looking closely, you can see contamination burning off of the outside. These smoke you see is from the outside and not from the smoke stack
