The Taz build

Well I picked up another one. This time it’s an 88. I wasn’t really looking for one but this fell in my lap and was too good of a deal to pass up. Previous owner had a “custom” paint job done. Pearl white with Taz and other stuff painted everywhere. Looks like it drove through a looney toons cartoon. On the plus side it’s rust free and great interior. Runs and drives great and it’s a 5 speed. We’ll see what happens. Not expecting anything crazy. Would love to do a SAS swap but funds will be tied up in my 83 build up.

That is an... interesting paint job! Looks like a fairly clean 4runner though, nice score!

Picked up some Rustoleum white paint and covered up the “artwork”. The paint doesn’t match at all. Kinda disappointed but it looks better than it did with the cartoons on it

I agree, MUCH better. The wheels and that purple Taz stuff screams tacky 80's, happy to see you cover it up. Interior looks to be in good shape other than dirty carpet.

Well about $50-$60 in paint and a bunch of tape. A few hours later it turned out like this.

Wow, $60 in paint? Looks much better, and those wheels are a definite improvement.

yeah pretty much. I already had some. I just had to but some more and the paint had excellent coverage. The wheels that were on it when I got absolutely hideous imo

I really like the green!! Much better than whatever paint job you call that when you bought it. Are those FJ cruiser wheels? Looking good!
