Hi Mark, We're all liking the new house, we have gotten close to a foot and a half of snow so far, by the time it all slides off the roof I think the house will be burried till summertime, lol, naw but we like living out in the woods and we have some really good neighbors, one of them keeps the driveway all plowed for us, and our next door neighbor brought us over some home made chicken noodle soup when we were all sick, so that makes it feel more like home!
I couldn't help myself, I had to throw in a pic of my two yota's together, lol...

Thanks Chuckar, I really appreciate you going thru the xtra trouble!
Thanks for the props Richard...actually that's my front yard, lol...Yeah the runner still is my favorite too, but I appreciate it and enjoy driving it more now that I'm not daily driving it, if that makes sense, lol.

Oh wow. Thats one hell of a yard you got. Lol and I totally understand uou. I use the corolla as the DD. I usually use the truck in weekends. Feel really good and happy at the end if the week to finally be able to drive the truck haha! Sometimes I cant resist and I give in to driving it during the week

Ok Ed heres the pics I pulled the top plate off so you could see it better couldn't see much from under the truck. I will be working on the truck for the rest of the day I am welding the gusets on the sliders so if you need another pic let me know Tom

Wow it's dirty under there now I will have to clean and paint that stuff

Thanks Tom for going out of your way and taking the pics, I appreciate it! That will give me some ideas for building mounts and a new winch mounting plate! I hope all goes well with your sliders!

Thanks SMOKEJUMPER. I'm pretty happy with it, out of the three 83's I have owned, this one is by far in the best condition (hence my user name, lol). Yeah I like those older honda civics too, that would make the ultimate sleeper!
SUP Mark! Always glad to hear a shout out from ya!

I love the body styling. Small and round, similar to that pickup. Sloped hood at the end.
So light I bet I could get it screaming fast.

It's been awhile since I've done anything to the 4runner, so today I did a little wiring. I finally installed my Painless Wiring "Hot Shot" starter relay. I bought last year, but never installed it, then recently I had to have my (Ford) starter rebuilt. I noticed that every now and then it still wouldnt start, but if I moved the key back a little then it would go ahead and start. I suspect the ignition switch is probably the culprit, but since I already had the Hot Shot, I thought I'd give it a try. It seems to be starting alot better, I mean the starter engages like instantly with no hesitation, so hopefully this will solve the problem.
I also wired my dual electric fans up to a toggle switch so I can turn them on manually. I already had them wired with a probe located at the radiator to come on when the temp reaches 195*, but never got around to hooking up the manual switch, so I finally got that done. I ended up kinking the plastic line that goes to my oil temp gage in the process, it's kinked right at the fitting where it goes into the oil pressure gage. I tried to cut it off and reuse the little brass fitting that crimps onto the plastic line, but I think they are a one time only crimp, so I will have to replace the line, it ticked me off, but cheap insurance to make sure the oil pressures all good.

Dayum, that's just sexy, Tom! lol.... Still LOVE the smitty's on the RIGHT rig... Weird how some look like crap with them.... others, like yours, look great!
EDDDDDDDDDDD! Sup brudda? Nice work on the wiring. I'm doing the diff breathers, Brake Upgrade, Low Pro Bump Stups(uptravel only), finishing the cargo mods, 2nd Gen heater control valve swap and all new heater hose back there, the Con-Ferr, Sliders, ... and more, hahaha... CAN'T WAIT, and then.... I'll probably find a cheap 3RZ and slowly rebuild it/build it up over time... Unless I decide another route.....
LOVIN your rig, more pics of the property and wheeling and such, please??????
hahaha.

Holy Jesus! I just read through all 27 pages over the last few hours, and that 'Runner looks great.
I've been collecting parts for a 302 swap for a year now, trying to gather as much info as possible before I dive head-long into this project. Mine won't be anywhere near as meticulous as yours, but it should be nice when it's done.
I've been trying to figure out how to deal with the fuel pump. You said you were using a mechanical pump and just replaced the in-tank pump with a screen pickup from the '85's tank. I'd primarily like to know how the fuel lines "lined up", so to speak, with the 302 swapped in. Personally, I'd like to keep my electric pump, since it's a fairly new walbro, but I need to figure out what kind of regulator I would need with the carb setup.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks Falx for the props! Holy cow that's alot of reading all at once, lol.
On the fuel lines I had to route it (using rubber soft lines) over across the firewall and over to the driverside. I also had to block off one of the hard return lines going back to the gas tank, since I went with the carb and not fuel injection... I'm not sure if this step would be necessary for you since you plan on using a aftermarket electric fuel pump, you might need the return line... I can post up some pics if you need some, sorry I can't help you more on the electric fuel pump/ fuel regulator, but I don't have much experience with them. Good luck with your project, and if you have any other questions, or need some pics just let me know!

I knew that using a fpr and the electric fuel pump that I would need a return line, but the extent of my knowledge of EFI kind of ends at "the electronics make the fuel pyew-pyew into the engine", so at this point of reading, I wasn't sure if I would have to route my own return or save myself some trouble and get a mechanical pump.

Thanks in advance!

Ed.. I envy you welders, you have done some great work. I have been tied up and just getting caught up a little.
Falx.. I seen you mentioning the return lines. Just to give you a heads up, I have found several of these trucks return lines plugged, something you might want to check. A quick way I use is to take an air hose to the return line and listen for air bubbles with the gas cap off.

Thanks for the tip on the fuel return lines, that's good to know! You're always full of useful information!
