Thanks yota864x4! I think I have my 85' parts truck cab sold, so that will give me the money to get the 4 runner liscensed. Then all that's left of my parts truck is the frame, bed(and canopy) and the rearend. I'm almost tempted to throw the rearend back under it ( I would need leaf springs since I used them for my ruf on the 4 runner) and build a trailer out of it! I could probably get more $ out of it as a trailer than parts, but then there's the whole getting it inspected and that, lol.

The inspection thing is something else. I just missed out on a SR5 that just needs a frame. Wanted to do a fix and sell, but since it was in a minor accident but the frame busted, it has to go thru a whole inspection thru the state. Will have to pass on it.

Hi Terry, yeah that's what I'm afraid of, I never built a trailer out of a truck bed/ frame and since the title is going to stay with the cab, I'm not sure how much of a hassel it would be.

I got a guy coming over for the 85' pickup cab tomorrow, so I pulled out the good windshield to put in my 4 runner, I got the cab off the frame today. Selling the cab should give me the funds to get my title transfer and liscense tabs! Then all I need is front shocks and to mount my shock hoops.

^^^say bye bye to the cab, lol

^^^ I would really like to turn this into a matching trailer to pull behind my runner!

Thanks for the info Brian, so if you wanted to sell it, you can't sell it for 3 yrs until you get the title?

No,you can sell it,but they will have to transfer the registration and wait the remainder of the 3 years, before they get the title.

If I remember correct, they give you something saying its a constructed vehicle. They basicly want to wait 3 years to give you a title, to make sure it doesnt fall apart.

Oh, I knew there had to be a catch, lol. Yeah I don't have that kind of money to put into another project, lol besides I already have an off-road/camping trailer project that I started building from scratch, (I already have all the link brackets, tabs etc, going to do a 3 link with coilsprings, just b-cuz lol) on the back burner that I need to finish someday, lol. Thanks again Brian for the info, and for probably saving me from another project!

Ed you should look at the anti-rollover toungs on old military trailers.(bantam model m100) They have a swivel with a coil spring. They can do almost a 360 roll without taking the truck with. And if they do roll the coil spring is there to help flip it back over.I know you cant buy them anymore, but you could steal the design and build one.

That sounds sweet, back when I first started building the trailer frame I looked at some military trailers, but I would have remembered seeing one like you described, I'll have to do a search on it, it sounds cool!!!

Yeah, that looks bad@$$!!! That's the look I'm shooting for, but mine is going to be a little wider since I don't have a pickup anymore the trailer will be performing double duty as a camping/utility. Thanks for the pic!

Not much of an update, just been putting a few miles on the 4runner. I need to take it down the freeway and test it out, I haven't got over 40 MPH yet, ( but it gets there really quick, lol). I'm still trying to get the bugs worked out of my clutch, trying to fine tune the adjustment in the slave cylinder is getting a little annoying, it either has a slight, but annoying squeal with the clutch pedal released,( but otherwise works fine) or if I adjust it and get rid of the squeal, then the clutch slips. I'm starting to wonder if that's why the PO was running a different style throwout bearing and not the one from NWOR. I will try adjusting it some more today, if I can't get it figured out I may end up getting a different bearing.

I was trying to clean up the look of the dash area where the PO had the gages mounted. I went ahead and used the bezel off the 85' truck for now so I could mount my gages temporarily,( I eventually want an A pillar Gage cluster like Chuckar has in his build thread) but was tired of looking at all the wires where the stereo should be, so I made a filler panel out of some thin sheetmetal and painted it black. Looks better than it did. I also put on some new gas, clutch, and brake pedal covers that were off the 85'...I didn't really care for them at first, but I do like how they provide additional grippyness plus I was missing a rubber pad on the brake pedal, so at least they match. I want to get a tach , but haven't decided if I want to go with an aftermarket one, or find a SR5 Gage cluster to swap in.

^^^ here is my temporary Gage setup, I kept my stock unmolested bezel to put back in after I relocate my gages later. I also mounted an auxiliary 12v outlet.

^^^ here is the A pillar Gage pod I want to get, (pic provided by Chuckar, thanks, lol)

^^^here' s my "fast -n-furious" pedals I installed, guaranteed to add 50hp! lol.

*Edit* Just wanted to give a quick update on the Zuk Mod. I haven't taken it off-road yet, but it handles really well, (corners, bumps and such) and have taken it over some speed bumps a few times, the last time I hit it a little faster, and am impressed with the way it performs thus far. Also no sqeeks, groans or noises that I can tell! (just as a recap, I used TJ front coils cut down to aprox 14" in length, and it provided 3" of lift.

Shocks

I ordered my front shocks today! I had no funds to pay cash, so I went down to the local Les Schwab tire center (to run up the old charge account some more) to see what they had to offer. Surprisingly they could get Bilisteins! So I went ahead and ordered the Bilistein 5125's that have 14" of travel. With the $10 freight charge (per shock) they ended up being about $90 something apeice plus tax.. TG has them listed for $83, so thats not to bad. A least I will be able to tap the brakes at a stop light and not look like I'm bouncing with hydrolics, lol.

Thanks Chef, its getting there. Sometimes it seems like it takes forever to get things done, but then I look back at the beginning of my build thread and its only been a little over 3 mths, lol, which considering my low budget for this build isnt to bad, lol. Yeah I need to get my welder back from my friend so I can weld in my shock hoops and mount my shocks and get my front driveline done so I can get some wheelin pics up!
Thanks again for the compliments!

Here's a little before and after shot, lol.
