Rob_A's 1988 pickup build thread

Had this ride for about 4 months now and have already done so much to make it my own, this is mostly in part to all the wonderful informative people here on yotatech. I guess I'll just share all the mods I've done so far up till now. This is a mild ride built sand and street. Idea is to have a reliable daily driver to get me to work( 30 miles to and from), and beach for surf fishing. No rocks, or mud for this baby.

I got it pretty much set up already. Just doin a few things to make it my own.

Future plans are:
Toytec 2.5" Lift
Rough Country Nitro shocks
Air-Horn
Strobe/Code 3
Shallow mount sub/amp
New radio unit
New Radio antenna
Paint alloy rims black
Remove tool box for something smaller
Hi-Lift/Shovel mount
Herculiner for inside cab/truckbed/bottom exterior body

Everyone knows you can never say your done with modding your rides. This is all i can think of right now.

First mod. Out with the old, uncomfortable bench seat.

Picked up 93' 4runner buckets from the pick and pull for $40. Still in good condition. They came tan and dirty. Used a little carpet shampoo for the cleaning and painted plastic pieces black.

Front bolts lined up, but had homeboy weld in the rears.

Bought me some new seat covers from Wally World. And there you have it. Bucket seats that make driving a whole lot better.

The seat swap was a night & day difference. With the bench seat, the springs around the driver side were all jacked. My ass always was hittin the floor. Now with the buckets I'm riding high and my head is almost hittin the ceiling.

So, I picked up these cheap ones on Ebay. Ehh. They'll have to do till I can score some originals.

Then I picked up a pair of original 40's for $80. One went on the yota, and the other on my 10' JK Unlimited. Install, for both was another $80! Man i made out like a bandit on that buy.

Nice looking truck. The seats are usually the first to go. They just arent very comfortable. Looking forward to your build.

Sorry, havent updated this in a long while. Been super busy. But, my pickup is still going through changes. I was wanting a little more room to clear my 32's so i went with BJ spacers.

Heres a pic with it installed.

Here's one next to my JK.

I hated that my CV angles and ride so decided on a bracket lift. I bought a used kit here from another member (sandman). Got a great deal on a used Procomp 4" stage 2 kit.
Here's some of the pieces painted.

Then the install.

New CV's

Plans on the rear are chevys, but for the mean time i'm installing trail gear shackles.

Na, it wouldn't for what I need it for. As stated before. This ride is my DD and fishing truck. No big rocks where I live. Only thing my rig crawls over is a lot of SAND!
