Did a few small things this weekend in preparation for the SAS....
Painted the links:


Steering stop added 5/8" nut:

Steering stop capped off:

What's this? ...psssst its a baffle to stop the gear fluid from leaving the differential during cornering, the front never had one because the vehicle was not fulltime awd.

I'm an idiot...I promise I'll get the tank out after work and send you the specs...sorry.
Thanks for the info, makes sense that the axle has those baffles in, but my front axle didn't come with any, i wonder if it should have...i can probably find them at the pick-n-pull.

no rush on the tank. i still need to get myself a commuter car before i add things like that.
anyway, i don't think i've seen too many front baffles, though it wouldn't hurt to add some. great progress, by the way. absolutely awesome weekend for working on that stuff, too. is that por-15 on the links?

The silver, however, is Chassis Saver:

My local body supply carries both, while Chassis Saver is cheaper, and comes in a few different colors, I thought I'd give it a shot.
This weekend was really nice, I really got very little done to get ready to cut the IFS off. I spent a good amount of Sunday welding 1/4" - 3/16" steel scrap to practice my welds, and get the mig dialed in. I'll use my puny Lincoln 125 to tack everything, then I'll borrow my friends Miller 211(<< i think..) to burn everything in.
I also killed a good amount of time getting familiar with the torch. To me, these practices are essential for my project.

Wheel Bearings
So I am swapping two new axles under my rig, one of which is a full-float rear.
this means I'll be able to use the same bearings at each corner. The best price I could find for Koyo(Japanese OE supplier for Toyota) was about $40 per corner. That is 8 bearings, inner and outer...until Monday.

I paid $127 including shipping for all 8 bearings for all 4 wheels...and KOYO no less. this was by far the cheapest I have found.
I just realized it was cheaper for me replacing the rear as a full-float, bearing wise, then the semi-float single bearing...everything else...not so cheap.
first time i ever ordered from the above merchant, quick shipping, I have no affiliation with them.

^^^ yes, but just to be clear, those stands infront are welded to the ramps, and the little jack on the pavers, is only holding. The Trans, so it isn't stressing the motor mounts.

The Ruff-Stuff Flanges are flat on the back, so you will need to machine them down to match the axle(makes it easy to center) or extend your axle width by doing something else. My WMS to WMS will be 58.25" if our calculations are correct. in essence i am loosing .25" on the rear axle.
