Still kicking around the idea of just buying a new stock head with 268 cam from engnbldr. It's like $450 to my door. But if I do it myself valves look like they will run me around 150-200 depending on if I can round up a valve spring tool. Vs buying one. And seeing what I can sell this one for. Man I hate not having enough money.

Valve job question. Assuming I have a valve spring compressor. How hard is it to do a valve job on my 22re? And should I replace the cam at the same time? It has 200,000+ on it. How long do these things last? I have tried calling engnbldr but the line has been busy. I sent an email but have not heard back yet. If I have to spend another $200-300 on a head w/200k plus miles I might just buy a new head. I know these heads last forever (ish). Any advice welcome. Thanks

Ok talked to enough people and they don't see the enuf actual rust to worry about it. There is no pitting to sleek of on the valves. So we are going to see what happens. Starting the reassembly today.

I actually think my paint looked better before wet sand in places. I really wanted to find that color in flat but all I can find is satin for a finish. I think next Sumer I am going to have paint mixed and just shoot it myself. It's not like its going to look anymore like a DIY paint job .

Found out one of my neighbors is a fellow YT junkie and said he would help me with the swap.

It's bent or more so very kinked right behind the LF A-arm

It's been totaled. Could still be salvaged but I don't have the skill set to YT and weld frame rails.

Long ignored build thread is now dead. I sold the truck to a guy. Now it just me and my 85 4runner. Oh yea and the rest of my family.
