Went out and played in the snow today with my Chevy and got really stuck. Came across a suburban very stuck high centered on the spare tire. Well I didn't have a shovel with me but had a machete and started to help dig him out. Well get him somewhat dug out and hooked up a strap and slid myself right into the snow bank.

So now we are both stuck. I start digging myself out and when I was almost done a ford pulled up behind me. He chained up and pulled me out. We then fill in my holes pull behind the suburban and he hooks to me and me to the suburban joint pull the suburban starts to move and then the ford is now stuck and the suburban still isn't free. We start diggin out the or because it's only his front tires so 2 1/2 hrs from the beginning of the ordeal we are nowhere near done. Then along comes a group of really nice rides. Toyotas Sammie's Jeeps and a SASed Honda passport. (looked really nicely done). All locked up and most with winches. We all got free with limited damage and all was fun and ended well.

This got me to thinking I need to get my gears and lockers and then a winch. Wow a very humbling day. First I was wheeling in the snow without another truck, I had no shovel an realized I didn't even have my come along with me. Just thought I would shar my learning experience with you.

Happy New Year

Long time no update

Well fun times; but been busy helped my mom move truck developed a small slow oil leak. Not sure where yet but I will find it. Went to replace my exhaust doughnuts and can't get it to seal up. Bad leak. Time to figure out the egr thing for my header and just finish it. Just got some bucket seats to install. I will post a pic or two of them soon. I need to shampoo them and I will probably cover them.

Thanks.

Seats and center counsel are going in next week. I picked up a 3rd gen runner center counsel w/heater. So I am going to cut out the shallow box and build a much deeper one to get use of that wasted space. Thinking about just welding some tabs to the floor board (after I remove the carpet of course ) for mounting points. Then I should be almost done with the interior.
With this nicer weather coming I will finally be able to start my body work and my part out of the 89 parts truck.

I was thinking about doing the same thing with my console. It has the rear heater, but the lines leaked over winter so I removed them. And have been contemplatin making the console deeper. Because right now it's prett much useless.

I actually am taking out the rear heater. Don't need it. That truck gets so warm so fast with the stock dash heater. And the rear heater takes up almost 2/3rds or the space in the center counsel. So I am just going to cut out the storage box and make a deeper one. I still want to find a 1st gen runner counsel that is grey and in good shape. They have the dual storage compartment.

I hear you there. For as little as someone sits back there it's useless for me. Plus now to make it work I need to spend 100$ to get the new lines.

Funny side note about those rear heaters. When I was in my early 20's I was just hammered and getting a ride home from a bar borderline passed out in the back seat on my buddy's runner. Well he said I was complaining about being cold so he reached back and turned the heater on. According to him about 15 minutes latter a bic lighter blew up from getting to hot. This definitely woke me up and we were finding little pieces of green lighter all ofer the place for weeks. Only funny cause nobody got hurt. But those little heaters do throw some serious heat. I can't imagine how that looked to the other cars on the road a darn near blacked of runner driving down the freeway at 2:30 in the morning and then bam a bright orange explosion in the cab then back to darkness. No stoping no slowing down just a you good? And kept driving. Those are your great friends. The good one are the ones you call for bail. And your great ones are sitting next to you waiting for bail saying well that was dumb but fun right.

So I haven't got my o2 sensor hooked back up yet will cal engnbldr Monday and see if he has an o2 sensor and bung to weld in. But in the meantime I will say the header has shifted my power band up almost 1000 rpm's. it still seems to do well between 2-3k but a out 3100 it is like there is an extra 25hp. I broke my own rules regarding modifying and evaluating the difference one mod makes. I unhooked my egr installed a NWOR header and no o2 sensor. I want to get m o2 sensor back on and then look at intake mods. If I remember right when I did the k&n cone filter for my 85 22re it seemed to pick up more bottom end.

Turned out great!! It's a wonder sometimes what you can do with a rattle can and some time. I painted my old 91 ex cab with rattle can OD green and turned out decent.

Thanks I think rattle cans have come along ways in the last 15 years. I really think I want to do the rest of the truck now.
