Motox711's 87 4runner build

Well I guess its time I start this thread. I have had my 4runner for about 3 years. I bought it for around 800 bones, it came with new tires and was sort of thrashed on. The drivers side was a little crunched(P.O. stated he hit a cow) so I found a doner vehicle and welded in a new corner. i had pics but think the wife deleted them.

I have already done a few things so some pics will be the after. Sorry for no before pics. At one point I did have a few, but now I can't find them. I have a long list of things I want to do and no cash flow things will go pretty slow. I'll try to do more before and after pics.

Done So Far:3
Electric fan
Added a 87 supra intake
95 ish land cruiser MC and power Booster
done some minor body work cut out part of the rear fender well that had a bunch of rust. so far only have done the passenger side. will be doing the drivers side this summer. In the end i want to paint it white and black.

about a month ago the head gasket failed me. pulled the motor apart and found chunks of timing guides in my oil-pan. I always wondered why my oil pressure fluctuated and was low sometimes. I'll show pics of that mess, but that is where i am at now. I do have some pics of the engine tear-down. and plan on taking pictures of putting all the pieces back together. I don't plan on really doing much this time as funds are short. but i figure a good clean up and some paint should be in order.

Here we go...

Rusty for sure

this side was really bad, come to find out in the past this quarter panel was replace and was done very poorly. lot of open spots that let water in. so the rust was bad all over. I ended up getting some ideas from other members that cut out the rust and welded in a rod. I did a 3/8" rod in the whole wheel well outside seem. I'll have finished pics when i can find them or once i am done with the current project i'll post them.

At some point I plan on using Durabak roll on paint and do everyting in white then will do black around the bottom. It will be a while until I can afford the paint. So in the meantime grey primer and undercoating will have to work.

In March my motor decided to spring a leak from the intake manifold. so i ended up pulling the whole motor just because, and i am glad i did. I found that the PO had thrashed on the timing guides and found a pile of them in the oil pan. pics will show the mess. I now know why my oil pressure gauge was always low.

decided to paint it while it was out. I know white will show all the dirt, grease, and grime but i figured it would look cool for a while.
