menmabassguitar's 91 pickup woods/camping rig build-up (was a 4runner!)

ooooooooooK... SO, I originally posted this thread as a 4runner with a seized motor and long story short, I ended up selling the truck. I've since then picked up another daily driver (94, extra cab pickup) and have decided to get going on a build I've been envisioning for a long time. So, years ago, I bought this red 91 extra cab that had circled its way around a couple friends and I drove it, every day and across the country a couple times. She's not a "looker" by any means but just won't die! Even for a 3.0, it won't give up.

I brought it to an old timer up here in NH and had him button a few things up for me and chop my frame down... The passenger side cab corner was SHOT... and when I say shot, I mean he used the entire panel I brought him Now, my goal with this truck is to keep it short, tight and maneuverable. With the frame chopped and body patched, I built a bed out of rough sawn lumber. I want to get a lift in the truck next, so my goal is to get some 4" springs for the rear and decide on either SAS or just IFS in the front.. Now, I'm just a carpenter and don't know how to weld so while I want to put a solid axle in the front, if I can't afford to hire a welder to install my mounts then I might be left to the "bolt on" rout w/ the IFS :-/

Anyways, onto some photos.

(WHAT THE ORIGINAL POST WAS FOR!!)

(91 EXTRA CAB CURRENT BUILD)

Heres what's been done so far.

Might just be worth your time to pull it out of the truck and start from there. Most likely going to have to do that any how cause my guess it the clutch is fried as well from the sound of how it all went down.

Then it really takes no time to drop the pan or pull the head and see if it's salvageable.

Pull it out and take it apart. Also why do people where shorts over pants? haha just wondering, reminds me of high school cross country practice. by the way i like the flares and the grill. You will have to pull the head off, clean it, and inspect it for warpage and cracks. my best advice... if u wanna drive it NOW buy a used running engine, drive it while you rebuild your existing one.

Heh thought it was a chick at first honestly. It uhm gives you added perv protection, sweats aren't designed to hold that stuff in place.

Yeah the head might be salvagable, Gl with the block stuff.

And the knee of course, don't over excert your self. The ladies say thats comparable to child birth btw, so the next time someone tells you pull your lip over your face or whatever you can say you've already had kneee surgery

thanks for the info guys! i also hear that pouring tranny fluid down the spark plug holes helps? anyone got any ideas on that?

pulling it out the engine sounds like the best of option at this point.
