We got lunch in Lincoln, the rolled up Rt 112 to Conway and as always, stopped at Conway Scenic Railroad to check in on The Flying Yankee. After not seeing it anywhere in the rail yard(it’s difficult to overlook) we asked an employee and got the scoop. They were storing it about 6 miles away. So off we went to find it. Found it. Looking much better than last time we saw it! This thing was a real sports car of a train my son tells me. Capable of over 100 mph with diesel-electric power. He had to see in the cab. They anticipate it will be another 2 years before the restoration is completed and the train will run again. Likely we will be there to see it.

On the way home we made one more stop at Silver Lake which is a combination post office/school bus stop/scenic RR. Facebook says it ceased operation in 2017, but the basic idea was that they used rail “speeders” to pull passenger cars on a scenic ride of a mile or two.

The Goorunner has been performing admirably as a daily driver for a year now. I decided to reward it with some new brake rotors. It was a beautiful day for wrenching so i ditched work and spent the day outdoors. units" class="post_inline_image" data-size="2000x1504" data-src="https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yotatech.com-vbulletin/2000x1504/img_8610_dfe9d34e97e3fcae309f1661c776870c66a894ee.jpeg" loading="lazy" />
Calipers and pads were only about a year old but rotors were warped So never buy a car from Vermont. Where’s the backing plate? After a lot of work, i got all the bolts out. Spraycan-restored used backing plates. A little VHT paint never hurts... I love this stuff.

Nice work on getting those bolts out and a "new" backing plate, makes my rust complaints look like child's play.
I missed the fall pics from last year, your trains, trees, truck pics are good scenery.

Thanks! The weather is starting to turn so there’s likely another Northern road trip coming up for the Goorunner.
