Pilgrimage home to CT to see friends and family yesterday. Quite an odyssey, with bumper to bumper traffic on I-95 and I-90 in Mass. and a monsoon on the way back home. Once we hit NE CT the rural roads were nice as ever. After the family obligations were covered, Met up with Damion812 and Blackbeard and hit a local “cruise night”. The 4runners were a big hit! The famous landmark, Frog Rock. Pomfret, CT
The infamous “Blackbeard”. Hot.

A couple recent milestones, 1) moving our son into college 2) the 4runner turning over 200k miles. For a reward, I gave it some super unleaded, oil and filter change, cleaned the spark plugs and adjusted the timing(it had been slightly advanced since i pulled the distributor to swap power steering pumps). Wife and I were cruising around North shore towns on Sunday when the 200k rollover happened.
Stopping for lunch in Newburyport, MA. 200k Where we were when it happened. Another giant kite. Are these becoming a thing? Plum Island light.

Happy Christmas everybody!
I haven’t posted to my own thread since September?!
Life/work/business travel got in the way of playing with the 4runner.
But now I think I’ll be starting on the V6 front brake upgrade soon.
New Calipers, master and a little bit of bling with powerstop cross-drilled rotors.
stay tuned!
You too, Brent! By the way, I installed the headlights and they look good. Just turned out to be a bigger(resto) project than expected and i forgot to post about it.

Nothing to post about my truck, except the hard top is back on for the winter. But this Airbnb commercial caught my eye for the red first gen 4runner in the first few seconds. Very cool.
Beach truck finally getting some attention today by way of a new CSF2306 Radiator, restored fan shroud and new brighter headlight bulbs. The plastic tanked radiator had been weeping at the crimped tank seams since I bought this truck.
The fit of the radiator was perfect and it was well-packaged in shipping. Bought from Rock Auto for $299 but had to buy the cap separately for $2.79.

WOW that's a great looking engine bay. I had noticed a CSF Lifetime warranty tag on my radiator a while back so I thought "cool, maybe they'll fix it if there's a problem" yeah not so much. Looks like you need proof of purchase AND a checklist signed by your 'professional installer' CSF Warranty Limitations and Submission Requirements (csfimports.com). Were the CSF radiators original equipment on these trucks?

yeah I pretty much set the paperwork aside and forgot about it when I saw the words “professional installer”. I would have to search far and wide to find a professional who would take as much care working on my truck as I do.

i'm lucky. my brother owns/operates a repair shop. for stuff like this, i have no problem getting it done via warranty, even though i do the installation myself.
Nice weather and been driving the beach truck a bit. Commuted to work and hit a cruise night on the way home this week. It was the only 4runner there and people are always surprised to see soft top.
Then today at lunch, I ran out to get the annual MA state inspection(That’ll be $35)
The guy inspecting spoke only Spanish and i understand a little, but what I think he was telling me was, i have clutch chatter, and to be concerned about the timing chain tensioner. I knew about the clutch chatter and have a clutch ready to install, but it’ll wait until i get around to it. The timing chain was replaced by the previous owner when he did the head gasket and the guides are metal, so i think we are OK there.
Happy Father’s Day, everybody.
I spent it going to a carshow in York Beach with my son and wife. Weather has not been great, lots of rain and drizzle but it stayed dry near the beach.
We were not the only first gen there, though we were classified with the Jeeps and this nice specimen was in with the newer cars.
I told them, next year they need a class for “beach trucks” but I don’t really care much anyway. We only stayed long enough to see what was interesting. Never found the owner of the Gray one.
Another 4th of July, another parade appearance and couple hundred miles on the “4thRunner”. Lots of compliments waiting in the lineup for the parade to begin.
Nice new sign. GLP. Me hearties. Clean 72 Scout. Looked original.
