Picked my cousin up at Honest Engine this morning. Noticed big white is still sitting at Hayes... What the heck man? You better hurry up and get that thing before I tell my cousin to go swoop it up! He's looking there for a new Taco too...

I went there and checked it out and it had its issues. When the driver door is UNLOCKED and you try to open it, it locks itself. so I was like wtf? I tried it a couple times and it did it everytime. Mike ( one of the vultures ) handed me the key and the key has to be in the door for it to stay unlocked to open it. ( kinda lame, seeing how its got power locks and a key fob that unlocks the doors ) It also had quite a few dents on the outside of the bed. So im contemplating it. It wasn't as "clean' as I thought it was. It does have 77k original miles though. the interior had a few scratches on the trim pieces and what not. but it was clean regardless. and the Motor was pretty clean. Clutch felt a bit soft and the timing belt has never been done. So I dont know. I'm thinking about it. So we'll see.

That self-locking door would drive me crazy, but hey, if it's at the right price to fix it.

Don't know what to think about the dented bed though. Is it bad? If it's gonna just be your DD, I'd be concerned with how much it would affect gas mileage, and how much to fix it. If you're gonna go long travel though, and put fiberglass bedsides later, you wouldn't have to worry about it lol.

Just my 2 cents.

Well its not bad. but if im gonna spend 12k for a rig. I want that thing CHERRY ( Im a cheap mofo. normally i'd only go for something 4k. but i've been hit with a proposition at work. and Im willing to fork out the cash for an extremely low mileage tacoma. so 12k to me, might as well be a brand new vehicle haha ) Its basically a dent maybe baseball sized above the driver side tail light.

But yeah the door locking would drive me nuts. But Hayes said they'd 'fix" it if I were to buy it. They warranty their cars for 60 days unless you buy an extended warranty plan.

Um yeah that locking door would be a problem. I trust they'd fix it if you bought it; I think I mentioned before that my tailpipe hanger broke about 2 weeks after I bought mine from them, and they had me take it to their muffler shop to have it fixed on their dime. It's listed at about $1,500 more than I paid for my '01, but it is a V6, and with HALF the miles mine had. Seems like a good deal but I can definitely understand your hesitation with the cosmetic issues! My cousin said he's going down there today, probably to buy (I didn't actually mention the one you're looking at - don't worry. But I hope he doesn't steal that one from you!!).

nope. I've been focused more on work lately. Im currently cruising around my work truck ( 2002 chevy silverado 1500 ) and my mustang is lying dormant in the garage ( just put new shocks on her the other day )

I cant decide what I want... No idea whats wrong with me lately. when i had my 4Runner, i always wanted a new vehicle. but now i just have no clue.

the mustang gets driven once in awhile. It doesn't have a hood, heater, and the weather has been crappy. so its not really "winter ready". plus the wind shield leaks. ( no seal on it ) It still gets fired up, and instantly fires up with the simple turn of the key.

but yeah the chevy gets driven most of the time right now. I'm actually getting ready to replace the bed, and bumpers on it since they're all beat to hell ( the bed is cracked from how much weight we've put on it over the years ) so it should look like a brand new truck once im done.

I really think im gonna get a Landcruiser though. but the gas mileage is pulling me away.

Im indecisive. lol

just do a craigslist search everyday, that deal you have to go look at will pop up, i wouldnt buy a landcruiser there too damn heavy to really do anything with and the gas will require a loan just to fill it up, why not look for something with a blown 3.0 and just 3.4 swap it? im sure you can find something thats not in to bad of shape needing a motor

You don't wanna live here...the scenery and trails are nice, but the cost of living is too damn expensive and too many pointless laws. A better idea is to fly out here, buy a 4runner, wheel it here for a weekend and drive it back.

nope, I've cheated on Toyota.

my main issue is I want to put money into the mustang and I dont want to be distracted by another yota. money into two cars wouldn't be a good idea. so right now? i'd rather trick out my ford than another Toyota
