Past three months:
New shocks front and rear. Went with the Bilstein 4600. Pretty easy job. They handle well.
Talked with the folks at the Yota Yard and got a front skid plate and dome light. Order was packaged and shipped very quickly. Found out that one bolt on the 4Runner was sheared off. So we spent awhile drilling it out. The new-old skid plate was a perfect fit.
Did the blue LED dashlight conversion. Looks mighty nice at night.
Had my mechanic do the Pitman arm, idler arm, and all that good stuff. Tweaked the steering gear box. Handles so much better now.
Came with Mesa A/P tires which I found out do not handle well in snow or ice. They did fine on wet roads and slushy roads. I got stuck on a flat road that was snow and ice packed. Was a little embarrassing when an old beater honda civic rolled by me. 4WD was no help with these tires. Going to pull them off as soon as I have some cash.
Still getting 22.4 MPG (70 MPH 80% highway, 20% in town) at 32 PSI with the Mesa A/P.
At 35 PSI I get 23.1 MPG (70 MPH 80% highway, 20% in town). At 35 there is some road noise.
New dome light
New heater control cover.
Got hold of the 22RE Performance guys and they are dropping some new tubing and temp sender in the mail for me.
Oh and a new seat cushion driver side. So the early 90's SR5 4Runner seat cushions are smaller in the back by 4 inches but fit nicely. You need to remove the whole driver seat and use a circular file to make the mounting brackets a little larger (~1/4 in) but it saves the hassle of screwing around with new seat brackets.

*Update*
221105 miles and about 1 year later.
5000+ miles on the new block. Everything ticking along just fine.
Month ago, failing emission in a hard way. Really high HC. The truck was backfiring at high RPMs. Turned out the EGR valve was stuck open. Routing around it and everything is good. The EGR valve is on the list to be replaced.
Main transmission bearing is starting to go. Whining in 5th and 3rd. 5th is louder. Filled with Red Line fluid to hopefully limp it along so I can save up from a new transmission.
Replaced outer window seals: driver, passenger, and rear!!! Much nicer now.
Finally fixed everything in the tailgate!!! Fully working and reassembled.
Cooper AT3's were put on last week!!! Took the truck out offroading at El Malpais Natural Monuement - volcanic rocks, clay, mud, more volcanic rock. Tired did great.

Have you experienced any vibration/grinding most noticeable above 45mph? I have brought back from the bucket an 87 4runner 22re non turbo Automatic, and have been chasing a noise as I let off of the accelerator to coast and maintain speed...
