I haven't touched or saw this thing in over a month. I am currently working in southwest Kansas for awhile and left it behind to get my giant ass tool box down here. I have a wedding to attend next weekend so I'll probly end up getting it and start playing with it. One thing I need to do is fabricate a panel for my switches since i put an ammo can in place of my center console.

well heres proof i made it



that was in ellsworth kansas memorial weekend on monday when the tornadoes decided to say hi. i changed the oil immediately after that 400+ mile drive as it was ticking louder than usual. last night i picked up some 99 chevy 1/2 ton rear leaf springs for 40 bucks so i think pretty soon ill get the pieces to install them.

im also going to install a female usb adapter in the dash somewhere as a universal charger. the radio shack here in town was closed down so i was unable to get the 12v to 5v regulator i needed.

started off finding this little spot where im staying.


eventually we grew some balls


and after that a 3 minutes video of me attempting to ford a fairly deep area where the engine hydrolocked. pulled it out, and out of pure stupidity i attempted to crank it, spun once and locked. realizing what i had done i let it sit a few minutes. finally it was able to crank and start and run. no crazy knock or anything out of the ordinary.

bringing it home the engine was full of water. i drained it, took the valve cover off and stuffed paper towels in the head to soak up what i could. changed the oil 2 more times and as of right now i have very very low pressure and some tick/knock slowly rising. did i mention i forgot to pull the paper towels out?!?!

1. i think the engine is fine, once the pan is off i should be able to fix it very easily.

2. 30 pack acquired. hating life right now.

 

and my buddies 08 tacoma had some fun too.

yea prolly should of pulled that paper towel out. Looks like you guys had fun!! Tell Travis his 08 looks bada$$!! I have a shortblock if you need one.

 

dumped some marvel mystery oil and dextron iii auto transmission fluid in it and the oil pressure rose, but not to what it was. im thinking ill have to drop the pan now and pull all the ˟˟˟˟ off the oil pick up screen.

 

Hopefully you can get the pan off by taking the eng mounts loose and possibly tranny mount as well to gain enough clearance. Im sure youll find some crap in there on your pickup screen.Also maybe some timing chain guide plates.

From the looks of it I think someone already replace the guides and chain. Hopefully this pan comes off easy.

 

Hows it going? When are you going to tear into the Pan? Let me know if you need anything or parts.

 

I'm calling the local parts store to see if they have a pan gasket. If they do I think I'll be good. If what you and Wizard told me works, I should be able to get enough clearance for the pan to be removed by having the bellhousing jacked up with the engine mount bolts and any transmission mount bolts removed. I'm really hoping to find a bunch of crap caught up in the pick up screen. If not, big problem.

 

Use a wood block between the jack and the bellhousing so you dont crack it. Actually FSM recommends RTV (the toyota kind) FIPG? I used a felpro cork gasket and its not leaking. Might be better to use a gasket beins your engine is still in the vehicle, you might smear the rtv all over trying to get the pan on.
