I got the XM radio from calling XM, I got a deal on it and they shipped it to me.

I don't have any updates, I have been pretty busy on other things lately. The starter gave out on the 4Runner last weekend, I had put in contacts and the plunger before but the gear wouldn't kick out to engage the flexplate. The wife got stranded in the grocery store parking lot, tapping the starter wouldn't work anymore.

For anyone that has done a starter on one of these knows that it is a PITA, with an automatic and all stock with no body lift, most people drop the rack, I jacked up the motor and ground down a bit of the inner fender well and it slid right out.

Also I bought a car for my 60 mile trips to work and back, its a 1991 Honda Civic base hatchback with a 4 speed manual tranny, I have been getting a little over 35 MPG and costs about $35 to fill. I got it for $1000, its a real clean car, just had a big dent in the hood which I picked up at pick n pull, a leaking valve cover gasket and a hole in the exhaust. So with my free time between being on call for work, projects around the house and going to doctors appointments with the now 30 week pregnant wife and taking care of her, I am trying to get this Honda all squared away.

Don't think much will be going on with it coming into the Holiday season but after the first of the year it should get rolling again.

Sounds like I'm in the same boat as you are pretty much. Between the holidays and my daughters birthday party coming up along with doctors appointments for my now 20 week pregnant wife, my 1ton swap is kinda on hold till after the first of the year.

Gotta love kids huh? They take over every part of your life and yet you would give up everything for them in a heartbeat.

Here is a pic of the new car, 152K on it, the hood I got from pick n pull looked like the same color in the yard, so far I am loving this car, great mileage, feels like a go kart on the road and doesn't look too bad. I do hate how all the kids pull up next to me and try to race me or give me thumbs up, its a freakin' slow little car that cost me a grand, its not that cool.

"It's a slow lil car, and it's not that cool " .... .HAHHAHAHAHA.. I laughed pretty hard at that.... Not cuz it's a gutless POS... it's not. Just, well, I was visualizing them pulling up, like in some movie in the 80's or maybe even 90's, overacting and wearing bandanas and ridiculous outfits that NO ONE ever wore back then(except maybe in NY on the breakdancing corners hehee)...

Anyway, sorry, .... probably just confusing you.. but it gave me a good laugh, so thanks! lol.

NICE lil Car... I've been looking... more 4 door land.. but something Cressida, Accord, Legend, LS400 even(MAYBE, if it's worth the bother).... Even saw a Mini for 4K...... but then, I remembered... "NO, Mark,... cuz then you'd have to wear a PURSE, too!" hahha... Jk, ... I think they're pretty cool lil machines. Just, .. as I said, '4 door', and can't afford a 'Countryman'.... and.... OK, I'll admit it... I'm a lil concerned with it's VW BUG factor, hahahaha.

So, .... what's next, Mr. Woods? Rims? Fart Can? Slammed? 500HP worth of mods? hahahaha. JK, again... BUT, do know a guy down the road has a REALLY nice one.... It's not that 'ricer' status, ya know? More of a sleeper... AND, it SMOKES most anything pulls up next to it. Church Auto rated it at 649HP I KNOW, EH? lol.

Hey James. Id say you definitely got your moneys worth on this buy. Definitely gonna be sweet when you start to notice you have all this extra cash I'm your wallet due to not spending as much on gas. Trust me I can definitely speak out of experience on that one. My 29mpg Corolla has been out of service for a good month now. And I've been driving the V6 4runner everywhere and going from 29mpg to 15 really sucks. Especially cuz I fill my car with $50ish and my truck gets like $60ish. Lol.

Don't worry about it looking too cool. Save that for the ApeShïtMobil. Lol
I remember when I first threw on the body kit, 18"rims with low pro tires and a fresh black paint job. I got lots of attention from both youngsters trying to race me lol not to mention the couple of times I got pulled over by cops. Apparently very short haired 19yr old(at that time) Latino is too poor to own a nice car lol So I would either get pulled over for them thinking I was a gangster and stole the car or telling me to pop the hood to see if I had any mods. Lol I didnt even have an exhaust or headers. My engine is a stock 1.8L 4cylinder. Lol no mods what so ever. And i definitely don't look like a gangster. Lol oh well.
In the end I totally regretted fixing it all up. Too much attention is a bad thing for me. Imo

Chef, a word of advice, if you do get a 4 door Honda or Acura, try not to get an auto they have serious issues with auto's going out.
I am thinking of throwing a new set of tires on that are all the rage, they spark when you do burnouts and get extra traction in the snow and ice. I also plan on doing some exhaust mods, I am going to do some custom patching on the hole in the B pipe, its going to be all JDM yo.
I am not worried about it looking cool, I got the new hood because the old one was hit pretty good, I will probably put on some seat covers to cover up the vinyl seats, put in a stereo since it still has the stock one and I have heard that early 90's Integra center consoles fit and have a cup holder and I don't feel like driving another vehicle with no cup holder again.

My brother in law has a 94 Civic hatchback that he bought for the same reasons and he says he gets the kids trying to race him even worse then I do.
So 649 HP? Does it still get over 30 MPG?

Hahahaha... NOPE, ... but he's an aussie and he neared or DID break the Land Speed Record for a compact at 242MPH!!!! (whatever that is in KILO's, I don't know.. BUT, he's lived in both lands for years... so, he's always spoken to me in MPH, lol).

That day, I had to go, but they were shooting for 720HP... they had packed the intercooler with ice, tweaked this and that and I believe hit near 700hp when I left. The thing was so loud that even covering my ears, to the point of nearly peforrating an ear drum... I STILL couldn't hear right for about 20 minutes... AND, it made me nearly vomit, hahaha.... YEP, like standing next to a space ship taking off, I guess, haha. (Ok, not that bad... I'm sure that'd kill you simply by concussion.... but you KWIMean )

It was a 2 Door 90's Civic with NOTHING in there but the seat and full roll cage... NOS, Twin Superchargers on the exhaust, full racing EVO-whatever... i can't remember, ...but a 4banger with 700+ HP? HOLY SUCKED-BACK-IN-THE-SEAT-TO THE POINT OF BLADDER RELEASE! hahaha.

PS> YEP, ... .only auto I'd have no choice on, apparently, would be the LS400... but that's ok. I'm still thinking 84-95 Cressida.... but then, losing all that mileage, .... eeek. So I'm still looking into it. My buddy had a 96 Accord with 110K on it, 5spd., .... pretty good mileage... Definitely better than I get, lol. Another one I looked at was a limited edition Camry, very clean... Another was an 'Avalon'... Not very edumacated about those... but I assume it's pretty much an LS300(maybe they had a V8, too, optional?)....

Make any progress lately? What are you doing for brakes on your truck? master cylinder and lines? Gonna do a Toyota or run a chevy setup? I hard lined the front and rear axle with a tee on the axle and one braided stainless front and rear, but haven't decided what to do with M/C yet. Curious to see what others with tons are doing to get good pedal.

No progress, I have been real busy on the weekends with the holidays. My brakes will be a Chevy MC, I will most likely leave the hard lines and just adapt some SAE lines to the metric.

Hey have you make any more progress on your truck lately. I decided to go chevy MC and bought one with a sky adapter. Also finally got my steering parts ordered, so mine is slowly getting closer day by day.

Nah, been pretty lazy, I would walk out into the garage and just think "man its cold, I'm going back inside". And then the wife gave birth to kid #2 two weeks ago, so no garage time, my brother-in-law is going to be having a bachelor party going wheeling I think sometime this summer so I will have to get it ready before then.

How does the adapter look, pretty good product?

Hey man that adapter is nice. Incase you haven't got one yet. How's progress on the truck going? Summer is coming soon (I hope). Find your wheels and tires yet? I finally got some tires from my brother who got them from a friend. He owed me a few bucks and this is my payment. 37 boggers for now but I need to find 15" 8lug wheels. Post up pics when you make any progress.

Sorry guys, didn't get any emails that there were posts on my thread.

We are in the process of moving so the wife won't have to work as much and stay at home with the kids. I did get the axle in, got some rollers for it, went to flat tow it with a Harbor freight tow bar and the tow bar broke a block from my house on the first turn, tow rig went one way and the PU went another, it is fine. Here is a pic of it seeing sunlight for the first time in a few months.

I am slowly saving for the front end stuff, I buy gift cards for myself as a way of saving the $ up.

Sorry guys, nothing new, it will be awhile before I can work on the truck again. It is being stored an hour and a half away from where I live right now. I have been up to Browns Camp a few times this year in the 4Runner, but yeah nothing on the pickup, horrible, I know. It won't be until at least next year before I have a spot to work on it again.
