J&Hfab's 1993 Pickup Build-Up Thread

So this is my 1993 toyota pickup build up page.. I have had the truck for a few months and have been a bum so I am just now starting my build thread... First a little history on the truck... I bought it off the place I am working for because at the time i was driving my buddies 1988 4runner which was nice but it wasn't mine. I saw the pickup down at our automotive shop and decided to ask about it and they said it was going off to scrap because the auto trans went out. I couldn't let that happen so I asked to buy it and they ended up selling it to me for as much as they could get for it at scrap which is $400 bucks.

this is what the truck looked like when i got it home from work it was pretty rough but it was mine and I could see the potential in it... So my buddies came over to check it out and one of them said they would hate me if I got lucky enough to have one of the special edition G144 pickups with the 4.88 gears in it and turns out I did which was an added bonus. I got the truck home and started tearing it apart to put a new trans in it which i bought off craigslist for $200 bucks.. while we were at it we ripped out the interior to clean it up some then the truck looked like this

like i said it was rough but it was mine lol. The trans swap was pretty easy once I had the parts and time for it. I bought the clutch and flywheel from marlin crawler which I am super happy with and i got a pedal assembly and clutch master cylinder form a junkyard by my house the nice thing was that the old automatic assembly had the holes for the clutch pedal and master cylinder mounts so i just drilled them out before i pulled the assembly out. before i put the new pedals in i decided to paint them and I got the idea to run to the local skate shop and have grip tape put on them because the rubber pads had fallen off

this is how they looked i like them and even better he did them for free

So i had the pedals and the trans installed and was working on putting the starter and slave cylinder in. I installed the slave cylinder first then tried to install the starter i lined it up and put in the top bolt which went in super easy but i could not get the bottom bolt in no matter how long i tried.... so i got frustrated and took the slave cylinder off and the bottom bolt of the starter went in super easy thankfully. I put the slave cylinder back on and bled the system and it worked amazing. which brought up the next dilemma of finding a driveshaft for the truck because the automatic one was too short. I tired for days to find one at the junkyards around my place but with no luck so then i started calling driveshaft places and they wanted around 400 just to make it long enough to fit which i really didnt wanna pay that much so i kept looking. Thats when we found an amazing website. Its http://car-part.com/ I love it. What it does if u havent used it is that it searches a ton of junkyards around the country and lets u know if they have it. It turns out a junkyard in ridgecrest had a driveshaft for a 100 bucks so i bought it and had it shipped to me for 34 bucks which was pretty sweet. while i was waiting for the driveshaft to come in i decided to install my new headlights and clean up the front end

this is what it looked like when i bought it so i pulled all the chrome, the bumper and lower valience off to clean and repaint them.

@yotasavg thanks so since my seats were pretty crappy i found a guy selling a new set for 50 bucks so i had to buy them and install them right away lol heres the new interior

I got the driveshaft in and it turns out that the output shafts on the t-case were different from the ones on the driveshaft I looked around for my t-case online but was at a loss.... Luckly someone on YT helped me out and i found the new flanges i needed on marlin crawler so i ordered them. When they arrived the installed no sweat then it was just an issue of spinning the driveshaft until it lined up with the right pattern

I got the driveshaft in and drove the truck around and it drove like a dream no problems at all....

So after i got my new seats in I went to the junkyard and stumbled across some manual hubs on a 1992 pickup like mine so I bought them for 40 bucks to replace my ADD hubs. The change was super easy just unbolt the old stuff and put the new ones on, but while i had the hubs off i pulled the wheel bearings and regreased them. I cant seem to find the pics of the hub conversion but i have a pic of the finished product
