Hey Ian, sorry to hear about the tires, that definitely sucks...but you will be getting some sweet new tires, so all is not lost.

Did I miss something?...Did Rausch creek get rescheduled?

did you start a new thread with a new date? The thread that I was thinking about was when we were planning to go in late December/early January.

FWIW, ian, i LOVED my old KM1s, but ive seen the KM2s in action and over time and im not impressed at all... ive got roughly 30K on my MT/Rs (old style) and i absolutely LOVE them... they wear great and traction is top notch... if the MT/Rs with Kevlar are as good as people are saying, i wont ever go back to BFG...

also something to note, while the BFG A/Ts are a great all around tire, they absolutely blow chunks on wet pavement... almost totaled my truck several times with those tires and heavy braking/sliding... scary... good tire but unless siped, i wont ever go back...

I'm running Firestone Destination a/t and I like the road manners even wet conditions are handled with confidence. Of course, I have more load in the rear then the average truck(see dual batteries in trunk, compressor & tire carrier holding a hi-lift).
That said i haven't used them in mud or snow yet. Mud I am betting they aren't very good. And I don't have enough experience to comment on the snow ability I these tires. They were cheap at $140 a tire. I need to get a set of mud shoes next.

thanks for that.

km1- wish i could still get a new set
km2- not getting, too loud on the road
mt/r (old)- wish they still made 'em
mt/r (new)- hmmm... maybe...
bfg a/t- ew. no. they're over-hyped

now you've got me thinking. it's between mt/r +kevlar and duratracs. i'll be calling around later this week to get some prices.

Fwiw The treadwright guard dogs are almost the same as the old mt/r's. However with as much as you drive I don't know that I/d go with retreads...

Hey Ian
I saw in the beginning posts where you had pictures of the inside of your truck. I noticed you had speakers in cargo panels in the back. Did you have a write up on this?, i'm wanting to do this sometime. Sorry if i overlooked it. Great build man!!

If you want to add the speakers in the cargo panels you may be able to get a cleaner install using the factory rear speaker panels which sat in there... no isea what they cost or if they are avail. from the stealer...

fwiw the po of my truck put some speakers in there and I find I get some rattle issues if I push the volume/bass... I find I have to keep the bias [fade] slightly front if I want to stop it when I get a tune I want to push...
If you add speakers back here make sure you secure the panel well and add some foam tape to the edge to cushion/tighten the seal.

This is why I love my 6x9 Triangular Boxes... I have them on about 5ft. of Monster Cable/Extra, and I can put them on the roof, stand them up on the floor facing up(sounds great) and/or put them on the back seats.. When I camp and lay it flat back there, I can just stand them up on top of the front most stuff and still have full sounds on my trip(I know, the PU is different...but with an Extra cab you can still fit them and move them back to the rear if you have a shell and watch movies in stereo/if you have an aux in deck BUT, ..... that set up of Ian's looks good, I'm sure it sounds great.

Mark if you where to install them in a custom inclosure in the side walls of the runner you could have a little "vibration" action [with the bass pumped up] when you're getting freaky by the hot spring and you would'nt have to worry about the speakers getting knocked over or what ever...

heh heh heh

A couple of tunes you might want to try by the spring...

Feel free to use these tunes in your trailer Ian...

One more just for you
