I would avoid a drop in liner as well. I put one in when I bought my 97 Taco new. Heard the talk about the movement, pulled the liner 3 years later and sure enough I would have been better off with out it. A few winters in Buffalo were not kind to the bed with that thing on it. Had it Linex'ed.
Edit-didn't read the whole exchange before I posted. You got lucky with your previous drop in liner
I am not sure if you can even get one anymore...
Truck looks good with out the cap..

thanks.
not an update on the truck, but i thought i'd show y'all what i'm doing in class:
io-540-c4b5 lycoming 6 cyl

our parts cart after all the valve covers and intake are off

all off the same side of a row

our cart after everything is off the crank case

Ian GREAT build didn't want to post till i finished readin the whole thread but i rate it.. aces i really like your buss bar im gettin some pretty good ideas for my build... coming soon if my truck was running i would totally take that camper top off your hands A+++

does the exhaust leak sound like a valve tap? If so its on your exhaust manifold gasket. Or it could be the donuts in the collector. Past that you just need to run the truck and trace your hand over the whole exhaust length, but you knew that.

i think it's one of the collector gaskets. those are cheap, right? and they're the only ones i didn't replace when i did my rebuild. it's annoying that i can't get my hand (safely) up there to feel for the leak
and do the left two spark plugs look abnormal to anyone? (the half-white, half-black thing)

sure it was a good show. that's music from my time. i know you are a bit younger (physically) than me. but i refuse to grow up, so it's all the same.
nice clean interior man. I want to do the bed of my truck next...then my interior.
