Your auto transmission is killing you. I have 4.56 gears. 33 inch tires 5 speed and I get 17 mpg all day long. A big part of my gas mileage is the 7mge AFM swap, egr delete, timing advanced to 17 and using 93 octane
#46
4.30s and 32s, getting 20-22 mpg since May on 87 octane. All stock except ISR, 2.25" straight pipe, and magnaflow muffler.
Just thought I'd throw that out there...
Hopefully whenever I switch to 4.88s and 33s or 35s that doesn't change.

hey guys, lil update sorry its been awhile cant confirm my gas mileage at the moment my trip odo does not work. but what i can tell you is that before any mods i was getting 350km/tank intown at about 90$ to fill had 31's and auto hubs at the time with 4.88 gears.
SO now that the big nasty cold canadian winter has arrived here in Northern Ontario... truck has been running terrible due to the 7mge afm. my only guess is too much cold air? put her back to stock and shes good to go for now. I'll continue messing with the 7mge afm come spring.
also had a little accident while helping a buddy. 8lb sledge meets my thumb.

literally exploded on impact...
and last but not least met a fellow yota guy at school, here is his t100 and my pickup

happy trails!

I have had some cold weather issues with the 7mge AFM. I turn up the idle a bit and make sure the truck is fully warmed up before I drive. Seems to help a lot.
Sorry about the thumb!!!! OUCH!!!!

deffinetly felt an improvement when things warmed up, but was still gutless as could be.. was everything i could and more and could not break the 50mph barrier... as much as i would love to keep the 7mge afm for the winter I also have other issues to address, frame patch needs to happen asap.. my bed and a horrible echaust leak... the joys of vehicle ownership

Hmmm.... I don't have that serious of problems. Once it warms up I have no problem doing 75 mph on the highway. Maybe you need to adjust the air bypass screw on the AFM to restrict the amount of air. I believe that you adjust that screw clockwise to limit the airflow.
It does sound like you have some higher priorities than a badly adjusted AFM. Good luck.

Hello everyone,
Truck has been out of comission since dec 1st. I was cruising along doing 80km when i heard a squealing noise, so i let off the throttle (noise went away) and then slowly brought it back up and started to squeal until sundenly she died. After popping the hood first thing i saw was smoke from behind the timing cover. So i can only assume the whining i heard this summer was my water pump and well.. I guess lead up to this.
So during my christmas holidays, starting now i will be removing the timing cover and anddressing whatever issues i find behind it. Timing cover was dated last changed 1997 i believe at 98xxx km. the truck now has 202xxxkm so i think its safe to say the belt has been well used.
Any tips or advice would be appreciated

well got it all figured out and shes up and running again. ended up puncturing the rad while removing the crank pulley so had to chase that for a bit after she was rebuilt... but anyways heres the carnage:

also repaired the hole/crack in the frame, no photos of the final repair at the moment. tie rod ends next, been welded together for a few hundred km too many

Hello to all been a little bit since ive been on the web but here we go with some updates,
so finally got some photos from the welded area of the frame.
this is the initial hole we started off with:

my attempt... been a while since i been on the welder..

and later on what my buddy put in place to repair it all much happier with his welds on there. also the area was painted after this photo

And last but not least i received a flowmaster super 44ss for X-mas wich i have yet to record while running. hope this old video will make a great preview to the upgraded exhaust

Looking great, I'm planning on doing some frame rust repairs to my 1994 too!!! Mine was driven on a mountaintop removal coal mine for all of its life, so it needs it bad.

the flatbed update
so... the old box was shot. and disgustingly coated in grease and oil among other things.
the solution was simple, scrounge what i could for wood and flatbed. heres the outcome of the under 100$ investment

still need to clearance the deck in some places to allow full flex but shes a work in progress. Overall very happy with the outcome and the bed is functional again. Balljoints this weekend and shes ready for some summer wheeling
