They were an ebay buy, just the most affordable billet ones i could find at the time. I saved myself some money by making my own diff drop kit also

Nice. Anything you can build yourself and save $$$ is a good thing in my book.

Also i've been working on the fiberglass box, it turns out the underside (metal) is very rough, lots of rott. but its making progress day by day and i should have it painted and installed before spring

the moment i have long been waiting for...

my dad also gave me this

things are really coming along.. other than a very strange engine noise the other night. sounded like a tranny whine and was coming from what seemed to be under the timing cover. lasted about a half hour and drove it home easy. drove it to work today and no sound. still runs the same, so i guess i'll just drive it.

well here it is... 7mge vafm swap

cost me around 120$ and about an hour of tuning and testing

may not be a pretty looking setup but it is functional. this truck is now racekar.

was also forced to change the valve cover gaskets this weekend, just leaking too much oil onto the exhaust manifolds. i was very intimidated to do this job at first but i took my time. could have been done sooner if my friend didnt snap one of the valve cover bolts into the head, D'Oh. 1/4" bit and a nut and bolt and we were back in action.

hope everyone is enjoying their summer! happy trails

The truck looks sweet with those tires!

Sweet AFM install. The 7mge afm swap is something I've really wanted to do, but I'm kinda afraid. I know nothing about tuning and timing.

thanks a lot, I am pretty happy where shes at right now, but i have a lot planned for the future.

the afm was not all that difficult, I too was intimidated by tuning and timing and changing the mixture of the engine. but it is well worth the gains. 6 clicks left is what i ended up with on the fuel wheel ( although i had tried 5 clicks with no success. ) timing is at 15* or 16* and the by pass was screwed in roughly 2.5 turns. i adjusted it in until the truck began to idle rough and turned it out until it idled ok. Just remember to take note of your stock timing and keep your stock afm. switching it back if you have issues will be easy.

I strongly recommend this if you are looking for the best bang for their buck gain. my truck is much quicker now. could only imagine if i had a 5 speed... stupid auto..

so here we go, bought this about a month back with some buddies for 250$

it's a 97 4.0l 5 speed with a welded rear. couldn't ask for more out of a beater vehicle.

now for some updates and goodies for my truck

got these seats from my local yard 120$ for the pair.

I also installed and modified the sub box from my 92 PU and was given these mtx jackhammer 10" and re-using the alpine 305 amp from the 92

and my plans for this winter consist of... r150f and rebuilding my bed to be as functional and strong as possible.

i will be installing marlin HD shift seat aswell as new input seal and output seals, pilot bearing and release bearing. i have already sourced a new clutch wich i will be getting for free it's nice to know people.

picked up this gate for my bed build this winter. I know shes rough but i plan on somehow integrating the stamped center section into either a custom gate or into my existing 3rd gen gate.

for the bed i will be building an inner structure out of 1" square tubing to assure it is rigid. with a 3/4" sheet of ply wood as the bed floor so that it can be replaced if need be. i will be bolting the fiberglass bed sides to the square tube inner frame so that i can have the best of both worlds IMO strong utility bed, yet still look normal on the outside. i plan to use stock tailights also.

if you have any comment or suggestions i would appreciate it!
